Anyone moved from a TVR to BMW ZM Coupe ?

I use the think the Z3m was quick, until one had a run at me when has my Tuscan Redrose. The Tuscan just destroyed the Z3, I was sooooo dissapointed, as I really rated the Z3m for a long time...

BMW seem to have it sussed building saloon or coupes which have a little extra in the performance dept but their sports cars have often been described as soul less or lacking in character. I haven't driven a Z3 but always wondered if they lived up to the image. The cars look great but like the Z8 don't seem to be able to tick all the boxes.
I've now got a lowly 325i coupe, but it sounds great, goes pretty well and handles too, my old M5 could embarrass most things and was insanely capable of running rings round more obviously sporting cars on roundabouts, this is where BMW score most points I think

...and the other thing. It took me a few days, and I couldn't work out what was different. Then I realised..in a TVR people go out of their way to let you out, wave etc etc. In the poxy beemer it was the exact opposite. You'd be joining a queue of traffic, and people would do anything, rather than let you in!!

I will still test drive but the shame of what I was intending to do would be too much!!!
What a load of tosh.
The M Coupe is a superb car - has a brilliant engine and handles fantastically.
Whatever criticisms people made of the Z3 for 'looks above handling' were well and truly answered with this little car.
It may not be as fast as a TVR in a straight line due to the TVR's power to weight ratio, but from A to B there will be little if anything in it.
I can't stand the stereotypes people trot out about BMWs.

As has been said, the BMW won't be anywhere near as quick as your Chim 5.0. I've got a Griff 500 and raced an M Coupe down the runway at Bruntingthorpe from a standing start. I thought it'd be quite close but was no contest at all, which I was genuinely suprised about.
Cant really comment on anything else about the car but I have always quite liked them.

I remember someone on www.z3mcoupe.com having moved from TVR - breadvan. have a search on their forums.
when I had the Zm Coupe, I drove in convoy with a friend's 5l Chimaera, and there really wasn't that much in it (on the road, obviously on a track the tvr will win).
If you can find one with a BMW warranty, you're basically getting tvr esque performance with few worries and much cheaper servicing.

Moved from an S2000 to a Z3M Coupe though. I don't suppose that it would be as quick as most TVRs - pure power to weight will see to that. But with the ACS suspension (or other equivalent) they do corner very well. In the dry I reckon it handles almost as well (if not just as well) as my S2000 did
The other thing you'll notice is the lack of noise - not that it's quiet, it's just relatively quiet (metal roof and all that..) but the engine sounds sweet as anything and there are aftermarket exhaust options to liven things up a bit.
You get plenty of attention as it looks so 'different'
and people do let you out because it's not your average beemer. You get electrically adjustable and heated seats, electric mirrors, aircon, a few airbags and about 26/27mpg on a quick motorway trip.. More options: Harman Kardon stereo kit - includes sub - is decent enough; tilt only sunroof ?? 
The newer S54 has Traction Control, but that's only for girls and 4 hp more allegedly.
Both engines have their failings (earlier S50 = VANOS; later S54 = linings (same as E46 M3 recall, but they didn't recall the S54 engines..))
Bit of a handful in the wet - but you have a TVR so I don't suppose that will matter.
Go and test drive one and hope the roads are dry.
I'm off to Le Mans with a load of other cars, including a Tuscan, Tamora and T350 this year so we'll see how it fairs, but I'm expecting to catch up under braking
