Whilst driving on the M25 today, I saw a white van from a company called 'TVR self drive'. So is the name TVR copyrighted or not?

The term you're looking for is trademark, rather than copyright. Yes, TVR is trademarked but only in certain categories.

TVR van hire is probably Thames Van Rental or something but I suspect if TVR were so inclined they could prove infringement as they are operating in similar markets.

TVR have a community trade mark number 61283 for the mark TVR for "motor car and parts and fittings therefor".

Their UK mark, filed in 1981 has been allowed to lapse.

They also had a UK patent (GB 2 086 316) for the roof but this has now run its 20 years
