Seriously, I really fancy the change, I would probably keep the 3000M for my TVR fix but there is just something about the early Turbos that flicks my switch!

I've bee toying with getting a 930 Turbo as well as the Cerb. Only 300 BHP but the 80's kitch just about makes up for it. Saw a nice Black one today in Henley but was upstaged by the Zonda

Seen a few really nice ones reciently on autotrader.

Pros and cons?

Cons:

Porsche, sounds like a hair dryer compared to a Tiv.

Every other car is a Porsche in my neck of the wood.

Pros:

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that a German built car is nailed together a little better than our friends in Blackpool manage. Having said that, my TVR's been totally reliable.

Probably handles better in the wet.

is that a jump forwards or backwards?????

as the performance seems to be very similar. 0-60 4.9s top speed 165mph.

sounds very similar to a chim/griff 500.

Cons -
Huge turbo lag and dubious gearbox (4 or 5 speed). It will cost more to run than the 500.
Pros - that depends what you want from a car.

That's the characteristic Porsche "rattle" of the Boxer engine. They all sound like that and you either love it or hate it. If you cut me open the word "Porsche" would be found running through me like letters in a stick of rock - and, hence, I love it.

Not quite literally true - but you aree right there are a LOT of Porsches in the South East. Try driving up North or into Wales and see how many you find...

Well - mass market engineering ought to make that possible. But one should not start considering Porsches as utterly bulletproof - they are NOT. But Porsche offer a very good service to go along with them - for a price.

Ahh. Depends. My Boxster S is utterly fantastic in the wet...on trackl days I can overtake much more powerful machinery once grip levels drop...

Our Chimaera is crap in the wet. BUT! Once you know about that its not really an issue as you learn some sensitivity with the old right foot and its fine! People are unnecessarily afraid of using their Tivs in the wet, I feel. A bit of moderation and its perfectly OK!

BUT I would expect an older Turbo to be fairly "useless" in the wet too...

Corin: If you're after a challenge an older 911 Turbo should be a top laugh. If you want the ultimate driver's car a more recent vehicle, even if less powerful, should be on your shopping list.
