Gatwick Airport parking advice please?
Discussion
:wavey:Hi all,
Flying out from Gatwick in about a month and will need to park the chim for a week.
Has anyone used any long stay parking and found it ok, or will i be better off getting a hotel deal for one night with a weeks parking included. Price is probably similar either way.
Thanks,
cic

I just use a taxi service now... by the time you take off the fuel & parking it's not usually much more! and if you get back tired you get chauffered to your door!
edited to say - just seen your in Notts - so maybe it's a bit far for the taxi

Check out the baa.co.uk web site and book in advance saves a bit of money or if you're due to check in early in the morning the Hilton by the south terminal usually has a reasonable (maybe less so in the summer) deal on a room for 1 night plus parking. You can then just stumble across the footbridge into the terminal building and don't have to worry about rush hour delays on the M25.
I'm planning on linking my next service at Austec to a trip to some sunny clime. They are only about 2 miles from the airport and happy to oblige with a lift to the airport/rail link if needed. So if your car needs a service/waxoyl etc. perhaps that could work for you. I'd certainly rather the car was in Austec's custody than some car park.

I've used Gatwick Parking (I think that's what they're called). Can't fault them but we only left a Punto with them. They normally move the cars you leave in the car park to another place... who knows whether they redline the cars from cold to get there... and whether they've used the phrase "Think I'll take that car out for a spin, the owner won't mind."
Thanks for the info peeps, train or taxi would be ideal but as noted i am coming from Nottingham so a little expensive. Would love to leave at Austec, but my last service, new tyres waxoyl etc. was only six months ago. Looked into staying at Hilton for convenience but it says that they move the car to a "summer car park", think i'll try thye Moat house and some of the parking websites mentioned.
Thanks all

I've used the hotel with free parking ones a few times. Some have deal with secure parking.
This is good in that its cheap, nice rest night before, etc.
And car is in one of those park at reception and car is parked for you places (I always go for them rather than some which you just leave the car at the hotel....no security...no resposibility for car taken...)
pro: the above
con: you need to let some chav park your car.
I'd still go for that though (and mark your millometer reading just in case they try it on).
I parked in an NCP flightpath one time and came back to find the side of my car panned in by someone....carpark took no resposibility...expensive week parking. never use em now.
