I am now on my fourth TVR .

4.0ltr Chimaera 46k in two years ,sold it with 85k on the clock

400SE wedge 15 k in 18 months

#1 420 SEAC , 18k in 16 months .

Now 4.2 Cerbera , 3000 miles in eight weeks , including yesterday , Cheshire to LHR and all the heat !

The only time I have been let down is the Chimaera at 75k, when a fuel pump failed .

All the cars have been used every single day !

Too many people buy the cars , only want to get them out at the w/e or if it's sunny !!

Use them , maintain them , and they are as reliable ( More so in some cases) than some .

Just enjoy the cars !!

Sounds like good advice.

A hell of a lot of problems exacerbated by underuse, and it it does wear stuff out and break down, at least you've enjoyed doing it!

Too right, Mr Hyde. Tivs, like most types of machinery like to be used. I have always found far fewer problems with well-used cars (of all makes), when combined with regular servicing, and good quality lubricants etc.

As I said in another thread, "it's not an ornament". These things don't come cheap, so get your money's worth!!

They were built to be enjoyed, and believe it or not, you can actually get enjoyment from a car BY FG DRIVING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think all sports cars should be fitted with a special module, that detatches itself from the car after one week without use, hunts you down, and repeatedly slaps you around the face until you reach for the keys..............

Couldn't agree more. Had TVRs for the last 8 yeras or so, 350 (40k ish on clock), 400SE (40k ish), Chimaera (30k +), 4.5 Cerb (47k) and now Tuscan S (now 7k). Never had a problem with any of them when used regularly. The chimaera after a 3 month enforced layoff, due to one of Her Majesty's enforced Bosnia holidays, was the only one ever to break down on me...........and that was just a leaky clutch master cylinder. Just done 1500 miles or so in France in the last 10 days in the Tuscan and ran faultlessly (well apart from me dinking the front splitter into a rock at parking speed! My own stupid fault!)

My Cerb has just over 60K, I have had the odd problem but that was just after I got it from my brother in law and it spent only a few days a month on the road.

I use it as much as I can, at least once a day.

I'm in full agreement, Mr. Hyde, well said. In all my TVRs in the past 30 years I have found that the less you drive them, the more goes wrong.
