Has the UK's oldest dealer now been taken over by Drive Style Convertibles in Harrogate who are a Spyker (the Dutch super-car) retailer and a second-hand dealer specialising in convertibles?

(I'm a new member) I drive past this garage when ever I get the opportunity, (which I manipulate) so that I can have a drool. I drove past two Saturdays ago on a sunny day, and thought: "That's funny, there are no cars on the forecourt - but it does look like rain!" This is a severe blow to our locale, having such a fantastic garage in our midst was, well, such a buzz! You smiled with pride as you drove past it, even if a TVR wasn't on your shopping list. (Which it is!)

I have just left something on Sagaris on Sunday and would like to repeat that I do have a DVD recording of Clarkson expressing his true dispicable colours re the new Tuscan ... if anybody is interested to borrow!

How long had they been on Skipton Road ?

Seemed like forever - certainly since I was a lad, gawping at cars I couldn't afford.

Harrogate Horseless Carriages had been on Skipton Road since 1976 and had been TVR there since 1980. We sold some 3000M/S and Taimars from there but really our appointment coincided with the launch of the Tasmin series cars. After all these years Nigel was ready for a bit of relaxation and the business has been sold to Steve Williams who has a company called Drive Style Convertibles in Hornbeam Park, Harrogate. The workshop is still at Lime Street ably run by Gareth, Jim and Steve.
Hexham Horseless Carriages, formed in 1996, always was, and remains a seperate TVR dealership with Nigel as a co-director. The relationship between the two companies was that of a 'sister' company, no formal links but we try to help and support each others efforts to look after TVR enthusiasts (And Noble at Hexham!!) in the North.
I hope that this helps explain things a bit better and we look forward to continuing to be of service!

I thought it appeared in the mid-seventies, and I was
living in Harrogate in 1976.
Sadly, I could only afford an old Sunbeam Alpine then.

I do hope the new business thrives.
