Privilege cheapest insurance quote!
Discussion
Got best quote for my Griff from Privilege.com!! A clear £200 cheaper than classic/sports specialists and those who advertise in Spint for exact same spec quote. Believe me, I tried them all after renewal with TVRCC recommended was £300 more than last year at £1045!! Have spent 2 days looking for the catch/page I missed but I`ve satisfied myself I`ve not made a mistake.
They need min. 4yrs no claims and allow max. 2 sets of points in 3 yrs, so will only suit someone carefulish insuring one as a main car, but well worth a try on-line.

I have a policy with Privilege too for my Cerbera.
Gave me the best quote by far lst year when I bought her.
We'll see at renewal time if their worth staying with though.
Also they charged me an extra £70 for the remainder of my policy, (about 4 months) for fitting a sports exhaust.

Privilege gave me the cheapest quote at the time. When I got my Nitrons and Sports Exhaust, they wanted an extra £120
So I rang round and took a poicy with A Manning that gave me everything Privilege provided, along with track day cover for TVRCC track days, for half (yes, thats half!) the price...

I'm with Privilege too, they were the cheapest by miles (26yo, 4yrs NCB, no points (then!), off street parking) - c.£900
However, I had to spend about 45 minutes convincing them not to charge me an extra £120
for having the exhaust mod done...
It would appear that once one is an 'established' TVR owner (i.e. with a bit of time behind the wheel to prove that you don't turn it into a ditch/tree/lamppost-seeking missile), then the specialist boys are the way to go. They also seem to understand TVRs a little better to (e.g. understand and take a reasonable stance on mods, provide decent trackday cover etc).

Well i got the best quote ever when i almost lost faith in insurance ever becoming cheaper....
Direct Line quoted me half the price of my normal policy renewal... Policy dropped from 1400 to 780 this year and ive only got 2 years no claims. my excesses were cut in half too.
Tried privelege and they were higher for me, i just dont understand insurance quotes they seem to be in cuckoo land. My previous quote was with screentrade using churchill insurance but when i get a quote from churchill direct the quote increases by a couple of hundred
Anyway, im happy with that annoying red telephone

That's very odd, seeing as they're sister companies (both RBS Group IIRC). I called DL first, who passed me onto Privilege (who seem to run the prestige/higher risk book).
Agreed that insurance quotes seem to be in cloud cuckoo land (read the star letter in this month's evo for a good example)
I'm with Privilege and have been for several years ... all of my TVR's and car's before them .. they always get to the lowest quote for unlimited mileage ... can't argue.
Only bit that annoys me with them is anything is charged for ... so Green Card's, points, mod's etc ... thwy do not give anything away.
I had a row with them this year as I needed 4 green cards, eventually they relented and only charged for 2 of them, but I had to push it along for that to happen ..

Sound theory, and my considerably cheaper renewal from Mannings last year seemed to indicate that but for no reason they were off the scale this year - is there a greater statistical chance of me trashing it in my 3rd year of ownership?
