i just got my cerb and its got green pads have shite brakes all the time....... i just thought i was expecting to much as my porsche has brill brakes.... i will say though when they are cold they squeal a bit and once warm they are better but not great p.s. they are only in the back thank christ......
Have to agree with Steve (don't think it is just because we have the same brake setup). Greenstuff were horrible on the 450 - never inspired confidence whether hot or cold and did the disks absolutely no good whatsoever. Now switched to 1144s and even before they are bedded in properly they feel better. I have yet to use them on track but they can't be worse than the EBCs!

FWIW I quite like mine, they *are* noticebly weak on their first application from cold, but I find they're fine once you've used them once or twice. I had no problems at the Nurburgring with them, not much fade and the disks still look ok. The current set are the 2nd I've put on the Griff. I had mintex M1155 on my old imreza and they were better than the EBC in terms of performance from cold, but on the track both seem pretty similar.

You've got me thinking now. I thought it was a simple choice - Green Stuff - one of those standard Mobil 1, Optimax, S02/3 type questions. There's bound to be people with different opinions, but popular choice is usually tried and tested and ok with the majority.
Now after my last track day, I well and truely chewed up my front pads (& disks - need I say more
). I replaced with plain Lockhead disks and EBC green pads and must say have no complaints for road use. With another track day looming in November, I'm considering what to do with the rears. Although the pads were new approx 4k miles ago, I feel I need to take precautions.
If Mintex 1144s are better then I'd like to try them. But will this give me a brake imbalance towards the rear
?
Also can anyone advise on the part numbers (EBC / Mintex) for the rear pads for a '96 Chimaera 500. I know the fronts are EBC2473 (as for the Griff) if that helps. Any good mail order web sites for these?

Hi David, I have EBC Turbogroove disks + EBC Green Pads & have never come across wet braking problems, & I drive frequently in the wet. I find that the first brake application is slightly down on power, after that no problems for the rest of the drive.

I don't know about part numbers, but I got my green stuff from peninsula who sent me the right ones first time.

I haven't read this thread all the way down, so I won't say much except that: I've had Green stuff pads on Twink for over a year now and they're ace.
They took a little while to bed-in, and they're a bit poo when they're completetly frozen.
Other than that they feel like they rip the wheels off the car, especially compared to the OEM ones. They last ages, and don't eat good discs.
God knows what the Red stuff ones do when they're warm.

I agree. They did on my cars... but only because the discs wore away first...
And before you say they were crap discs, never had the problem with Tarox, Mintex or Ferodos. It's a choice thing. I'm just glad I don't use them anymore as I have found alternatives. Been there. Done that. Seen the skid marks.

Dont want to bore the pants off anyone but, just fitted a new set and they are the same, crap in the wet unless you keep them dry. EBC say nobody else has had problems, which of course i can believe. So maybe its my air ram? It has been on for 18 months with normal pads,no problems, but maybe its a marginal thing, i will have to pop it off for a trial.

I know a lot of people who have had big problems with these pads that have been solved by changing to another manufacturer.
