I've just joined and I'm beginning to research the TVR Griffith 500 prior to locating a car.

I've owned an RS Ford for the last 12 years and I've really enjoyed it but now it's time to move on and so I've sold it.

Time to get some more funds together and while I'm doing that I'm going to sell off all my spares for the Ford and find out as much as I can about Griff's.

Any info especially websites/contacts would be most welcome.

Welcome to the most knowledgeable place on the web. What ever you need to know about the Griff, just ask in the Griff forum.

So knowledgeable in fact is the PH's collective that rumour has it Ted has a little red 'hot' phone, not dissimilar to the one in the original Batman series, that top scientist and world leaders have the number to so that they may benefit from the wisdom of the PH's collective. GWBush the most powerful man in the world!? P'ah!

You will find a PH's expert for any occasion. Me? I just popped in for a look a few months back and I can't seem to leave. One day I'm hoping to remember what it was I was looking for in the first place.

Front discs only 260 mm dia ? how do they hold up ?

70mph-0 in 70 feet good enough for you? Apparently they can suffer from fade on heavy brake circuits, although not having tracked our car, I can't comment. Come to the Growl, chat to people, have a look around.

yep, i've done a few & never had any problems with the standard breaks (although that could be because I'm driving it like an old lady), compared to anything else I've driven they're phenomenal.

Other, more experienced drivers have experienced some fading, but there are some tried and tested break upgrades out there offered by well established experts.

Trackdays are good fun with a Griff. Oulton is great.

Consider at least changing pads for something like 'Greenstuff' and get some DOT 5.1 brake fluid. (Will be more tolerant to high temperatures.)

Ideally, get some Nitron dampers. These supposedly help handling immensely. I don't have them (SKINT) but I still have fun with the standard set up.

I would suggest a rollbar too. Not only does it give a slight safety advantage but it stiffens the chassis too.

Mine is a factory bar and fits well without looking crap.

Reason I asked about the 260 mm disc's was that I used 280mm dia on my Escort with Cossie calipers and they were really good even on hot track evenings but that was about 120kgs lighter than the Griff and at 200 bhp considerably less powerfull so 260 mm got me thinking.
