need help and advice !!!
Discussion
can any one give me some advice on how to proceed.
i bought a griff (which i am v.pleased with
) back in may, from a non-tvr dealer. came with a warranty holdings warranty.
anyway first day i got the car put it into reverse and i hear a clonk. to cut a long story short, the diff is shagged (opinion of good dealer and a specialist). so i speak to car dealer and he says let warranty company sort it out, anyway turns out they only deal with claims after 30days of ownership, so i waited and then made claim last month (they have turned it down saying components busted are due to wear and tear - usual wriggling gits
) anyway spoke to trading standards and they say it is dealers responsibilty to sort it out. have record of phone call telling them and a tvr dealer looking at car within week of purchase. what to do next? car dealer is being very evasive and unco-operative.
thanks

Go after the dealer and demand that he fixes it. The car should be fit for purpose and of merchantable quality under Sale of Goods Act - if the diff is buggered then clearly the goods were not fit for purpose. Get some more advice from the Citizens Advice Bureau if he proves difficult.
You most powerful ally in this is if he has a reputation to protect. If he doesn't give a toss about his reputation then you may have a hard time getting him to deal with it.
Try waiting until he has a busy showroom then discuss it loudly in the showroom. Do not get fobbed off or shunted into a side office. Be polite but firm. Shouting doesn't help!
Good luck.

My advice would be to write to the garage and explain that it is responsibily to complete the repair and quote trading standards. However get the car examined after the repair by the likes of Jools to make sure the job is A1. I would be surprised if he doesn't try to cut corners.
Failing that for a small fee I'll go down with a few 'boys' and sort him out.

just a bit of advice to all, don;t bother with warranty holdings, they will find any excuse to wriggle out of paying.
The threat of naming and shaming the dealer on here may help to spur them into action.
I got a warranty with my old Renault 25; needless to say it proved to be worthless. The electronic instrument pack played up, so I intermittently had no speedo/ fuel computer/ cruise etc.
I spoke to the warranty people who said the speedo wasn't covered, only the cable, but since it used an electronic pickup, that got them off the hook.
I went back and moaned and they fobbed me off with a derisory 35 quid to buy another from a scrappy, but as the model I had was different to all the scrapped cars I didn't get far. In the end I resorted to stripping the whole thing down and resoldering every joint, after which it never went wrong. I could've made a fortune fixing those....

That was my experience. The fact that the local Vauxhall dealer is staffed by lying, cheating no-goods who couldn't be a**ed to even try and help me use the thing didn't help either.
Mentioning no names, of course. But their name rhymes with Gravy and they're based in Basingstoke.
