Tuscans at Oulton Park on Saturday

Just to let you know we're racing at Oulton on Saturday, this time with the Scottish Sports and Saloons.
Qualifying is at 11.40am and the race is at 5pm. Please come and say hello in the paddock if you can make it - we're in a metallic grey truck, with an awning that is half white/half grey.
I know it clashes with the BBWF, but it would be great to see anyone from PH or the TVRCC

Hi Andy,
Hope the weekend goes well for you. Some inside knowledge for you re the Scottish Sports and Saloons, you may need to watch out for the following, assuming they turn up:
White Porsche GT3
Silver Escort Cosworth
Ford Fiesta/Ka based thing - White, four wheel drive, turbo nutter thing. Amazingly fast as long as it lasts or the driver does not throw it at the scenery.

A well deserved 4th there, Andy. Well played. 
I chose to watch the race at Lodge Corner (inside) and through Deer Leap. You were probably aware but your body seemed to be catching the rear tyres as you went through the dip at Deer Leap. It was leaving a cloud of tyre smoke in the air each time you flew past!
We went into the paddock earlier on. I saw you and another bloke fiddling with the car so I didn't want to interupt. I planned to come and say hello later on, but never went back to the paddock. Wish I had now, sorry about that mate.
Those Radicals are bloody quick.
It was good to see a Caterham having a close battle with the Porsche GT3 but you were too far infront to know anything about that.
Another top day at Oulton. What an ace place.

Yeah, done a few.
I agree, the lack of run off areas pose a threat, particularly round places such as Lodge and Deer Leap.
I think the circuit is an absolute ace though and I get a buzz as soon as I leave the pit lane.
Cascades is awesome if you get it right.
Oddly enough, the first time I went round was in an Escort XR3i and it was an eye opener as I was with Chris Goodwin (ex-F3000). As much fun as that was, it is more exciting having RWD underneath you.

Cheers guys - nice to see you all and thanks for the support.
The rear nearside wheel was catching the body work - we made some minor adjustments after qualifying, but not enough!
The 4th was actually a 3rd in the end - Tim Hood got a 10 second penalty for a jump start, which promoted me into 1st in the Tuscans and 3rd overall. I have a jolly nice cup on the mantlepiece - although it was a rather hollow victory as it was quite clear Tim was far quicker than me.

Its still good to watch the Tuscans growl round lodge and blast over Deer leap - despite the much depleted numbers.
Missed watching the morning qualifying , but commend the efforts of the guys trying to repair the damaged Glynnsport Car - 82 seemed to be working all afternoon - sadly the car didn't make the Race , but looked like they were trying.
Btw who were the fellas in the black overalls ? were they the Tim Hood team ?
Darren Dowling's car began a fast race but sadly retired with cooling system fault

Where next for the Challenge ?

Congratulations Andy! A first is a first however it comes. If nothing else it's encouragement in your quest for one with less of a "luck" element.
Sad news of Darren. He doesn't seem to be having much luck this year.
What news of everyone else? IIRC Hugh was going to miss this one (even before the bad luck at Brands), but what of Bob, Andrew, Steve. The latter two certainly seem to be improving at quite a rate, I'm hoping for some really close three- and four-car fights towards the end of the season.
Sorry I didn't make it. I chickened out in the end in the face of the not desparately favourable weather forecasts.

Yes, it was in fact Tim and his Team trying to "patch" my car together. Sadly, we were short of a steering arm, otherwise they reckon they could've got me back out there for the race. Not bad considering the extent of the damage and the fire around the petrol tank area didn't help either. However, we're hoping to get the car together again in time for Castle Combe on 29th August.
It looks like there should be quite a few of us (Tuscans) there for that day, so if you and all the other PH'ers who like to see a good Tuscan race can make it along, it would be great to see you.

Bob came in 3rd in class and 5th overall. Andrew has been using Darren's two seater (which I believe is for sale if anyone out there wants to join us!) and I don't think he's able to come out to play again this season but fingers crossed.
As for me, having had a great afternoon testing there the day before (first time out at Oulton) I ended up stuffing the car into the tyre wall during qualifying
Quite a lot of damage to say the least but hope to have the car out there in time for Combe on 29th. August. Thanks for asking and for the support and hope we do get some good close racing again soon. Cheers, Steve
