Clay bar system.

I have used Autoglym on my cars for a few years now, always being pleased with the results.
Recently there has been a lot of talk about the clay bar system, and last weekend I took the plunge and clayed the whole car with Mothers Californian gold.
For anyone not familiar with the system here goes.

Wash and dry car.
Wet an area 2foot square with the supplied detailing spray then run the clay over the wetted area, you can hear it cutting the contaminates off. Cary on until the area is smooth to the touch and no more noise can be heard, of tiny spots seen. Work your way over the whole car drying the clayed area with a terry towel as you go.
I then used a mother’s wax for clear coats, followed by a sealer wax and finally a pure carnauba wax also from Mothers.
I think you will agree the finish is excellent, I feel the paintwork is now better than when I got it. It is silky smooth and while a white car will never have the depth of shine of a darker one I am pleased with the results.
So if you find yourself with a spare eight hours this weekend then I cannot recommend the clay bar enough, your paintwork will look like the day it rolled out of the factory, albeit with a few minor stone chips which are inevitable I guess.

Looks good, but I have to say overall - Wow!!!
I've only ever seen a white Cerb once and it wasn't the cleanest. They really do suit the colour don't they!!

You have to do it, the paint will be stunning.
I didn't realise just how much rubbish there is on the car even after a good wash.
As I did the bonnet having a chance to perform a side by side comparison, well it was the difference between running your hand over silk and Hessian.
It is fairly easy though quite time consuming, you can not damage the paint just keep the area well lubed.
Oh and if you drop the clay don’t even think about using it again.
I am going to do the Chim and see what a darker color comes up like.

I know I was so impressed when Top Shot did our Cerb.
Looked like a car fresh from the showroom and stayed that way for an impressive time too considering Ray's devotion to wash and wax (not!)

Nerdy question - what colour do you call those blue carpets i.e. the TVR colour name please? Looks good with cream (OK, OK, I know we are supposed to be looking at the outside of the car!).

The car really does look very clean and tidy (but look what the clay's done to your numberplate).

Out of interest, where did you get the Mothers' kit from and how much wonga are we talking?

I have to echo the clay bar thing! Did it on the Griff the other day and it was fantastic!! I used Meguiars Quik Clay system, followed by Meguiars 3 Step system (minus the swirl remover then Gold Class Wax)

Tus 373, I have just looked in the owners manual, Purple is all it says there.
Nuggs, I went a bit mad at the Knebworth car show. Spending £90.00 on various waxes and clay.
The chap who‘s stall it was is called……. I can’t find his card, will track it down and post later. The clay and detailing spray are only about £20.00 so not much for what it will do.

I did mine the other day, and I agree, the paintwork comes up really, really well. Sadly I don't have picks, but since it is black, I can assure you it works fantastically!

Seriously though, that is an absolutely stunning finish sir, and quite simply the best Cerbera I have seen in that hue. I shall most definately be purchasing said treatment for my P&J.
