Classicline Insurance ?
Discussion
That time of the year again, my Tesco's Insurance renewal came through, and as ever it went up, even with no claims or convictions racking up !!, so I decided to contact Classicline. Got a good quote, they sent all the paperwork through, and the level of cover pretty matched that of my Tesco cover, although I noted that there was no mention of a protected no claims bonus, so I asked the question. Classicline's reply basically said -
"I can confirm you have 'stored' a protected no claims bonus. In effect what this means is that you are using the TVR policy to store your no claims bonus however, this does not in any way effect your premium. Classic, or modern classic car policies, do not require no claims bonus and are basically calculated on the age of the vehicle and the mileage per annum you cover, (i.e. more mileage more premium - the older the car the cheaper it becomes to insure). Obviously if you have actually earnt no claims bonus to use on your TVR this should be sent to us otherwise it will become invalid if not used within normally two years. Should a claim occur, your premium could be increased at renewal, depending on the circumstances, however this is not usually any where near as much as 'losing a life' with a no claims bonus related policy. Should you cancel the policy, or insure somewhere other than Classicline, written evidence of your no claims bonus will be sent at that time."
This all sounds fine & dandy to me, but obviously different to any type of insurance I've had before, and obviously, my main worry is loosing my NCB, even though it appears this is "stored" for me by Classicline.
Anyone had any problems with moving away from Classicline after a period of time, and then having problems with re-instating any old NCB ?. Certainly Classicline seem a pretty good bet at the moment, and am very keen to give them a try, I just have a little concern about re-instating my NCB after any real length of time ?

As far as I know, as with company car drivers, if you can get a letter from Classicline when you change showing the number of years you havent claimed then they will take this into account. If not normally a no claims bonus will still be valid for three years if not used?? Give your local broker a call he will tell you.

Not unsure about the condition of my car at all, just trying to follow the Classicline guidlines for filling the valuation form in, ie, "have the condition report completed by a club official, valuer or assessor", so was thinking of contacting my local dealer, to see if they will put the all important stamp on the form.
I'm in a vary similar position got my renewal from a well know TVRCC insurer, and phoned round for a few more quotes and ClassicLine have knocked £130 off it, and halved the excess, when I phoned my existing company to see what they could do they proceded to give ClassicLines underwriters a slateing and tried to sell their policy on it's quality, always tricky when all your buying is a piece of paper, and you hope you don't have to find out how good they are in the event of a claim
So has anyone actually had any claim dealings with ClassicLine?
Or the underwriters KGM ?
