Swirl Marks gone!
Discussion
The previous owner of our Cerb must have kept it under a cover as the bodywork had loads of scratches and swirl marks on it that we didn't really notice when we bought it. Upon cleaning it, we found it was not great and I assumed that only a respray would sort it out.
After some convincing (I'm rather cynical about miracle cures!) we've had the paintwork restored and I'm rather chuffed! It's had a buffing or whatever the terminology is and the paintwork's been restored to a fantastic state (then with a Zymol protection). I didn't realise that most of these scratches are only really thin so they can be treated.
Anyway, I'm not sure these pictures do it justice but:

Big thanks to Paul from Miracle Detail.

Sorry to keep on about this product, have you tried Turtle Hot Wax, it mixes with hot water (acts like a lubricating agent), then as you wash the car you don't get any swirl marks and your also waxing! Not only that, you don't get any dry residue and it's all done within an hour, with no effort!

so how much and does he cover all of Bucks?
Price is several hundred quid depending on how long he needs to spend on your car. Best bet is to ask www.miracledetail.co.uk
...and in answer to Pies' comment, I don't have the skills/experience/equipment to do what Paul did to the car today. (plus I hate cleaning cars
).A porta cable (random orbiting buffer) and a few products from Meguiars will do the same if not better for around £250. And you then own the equipment and can do as many cars as you want.
But you do have to put the effort in yourself, which will put some people off
Looks good though Ted, nice one. Lovely Cerbi

Yes you can have a go yourself;though the rotary buffer can easily burn through paint
especially those used with TVR. So that new buffer you just got may well be responsible for a re spray.
Whilst I agree that swirls can be polished out by hand fairly easily, as Ted said he hates cleaning cars.
Having a pro do it is so much easier, and safer.
Car looks fantastic by the way good work.

The car looks great, it must have been in a bit of a state if wet sanding was required; that is fairly serious paintwork correction. Got any close up photos before the work was done?
Agree with David H re. the Porter-Cable, superb device IF you are eager to fix it yourself and are interested in car detailing, if not then it isn't worth the outlay. There is only so much laquer that can be removed, after that defects cannot be fixed without a respary, however you could 'fill' swirl marks and scratches with a product often known as a 'glaze'.
As for removing swirl marks by hand, yes it can be done but you have to be very persistent and patient because it will take a lot of time and effort, more often than not all that is being done is that the swirls are filled in, the exception to this is something like Meguiar's ScratchX which uses abrasives. Abrasive is the key term, because no defect will be removed without them, they may appear removed but they are infact filled and with time will gradually re-appear.
Cheers
