Dammit - no TVR for three months!

We're having a load of work done to our house, whereby we're having another bedroom added and my study is being extended. The problem is, I've had to fill my garage up with a load of old rubbish from my current study, and a few other bits, and there's not enough room for the Tiv! I've spent the last two days trying to find a way of getting about ten tons of household crap plus the car into a double garage. I've had to concede defeat. Today I took the car to a classic car storage place. :weeping:

I was like a bear with a saw head when I got back. The wife says, "it's only a car". I said, "how would you like it if I got rid of the phone and your credit card for three months". She just rolled her eyes!

I know how you feel my cerb went it for a mot and servie at th begining of June and I still havent got it back (rebuild at power).

Well I could leave it on my drive, it's plenty big enough. However, I wouldn't leave my kids outside all night, so I sure wouldn't leave my P&J out there!

You need to have shelving installed. Start by building a scaffold, and then add planks where you can, so the car can fit right underneath.

Put in a big loft for the large items.

Big shelf or two or platform that goes over the bonnet.

Shelves running along the walls on the sides and at the far end, all just above car height. Leave a cut-out where you would exit the car...don't want to bang your head.

Problem solved!

A cunning, yet simple, plan but with a fundamental flaw. When the work starts on my house the builders will be assembling scaffolding all round it - including in front of the garage.

For every problem, there's a solution. Have the scaffolding assembled in such a way that there's a "tunnel" through it, leading from the driveway to the garage door and large enough for your car.

Can't be that hard, surely?

Another idea. Rent a large lorry or trailer for 3 months, and park it in the street. Drive you car into that every night and lock it up tight. Mobile garage!

Hmm, food for thought!

If I analyse the pros and cons:

Cons:

Would need to get HGV license to pick up and drop off.
Would probably cost at least £200 a week (£2400).
Would cheese off the neighbours no end.
Would need to buy an extra long ramp because of Tiv's low ground clearance.
Wife would go mental.
Builders would also have lorries coming and going, and it's quite a narrow road.

Pros:

Get to drive the Tiv.
Get to drive a great big truck.
Kids would love it.
I could park it in front of a particular neighbour's house!

It's too close to call, now I think about it.
