Paint colour code query

I've been trying to find which car manufacturer's colour my 1996 Chimaera is, as I'd like to get hold of an can of aerosol paint.

The body code plate states it's P422-A576B, and I always understood the colour to be Midnight Blue Metallic, but attempts at searching the web have drawn a blank.

Anyone on here able to help please?

best bet is to go to your local car bodywork work shop who spray cars and ask if they have got an ici swatch ( i think thats what it is called )for thier colours thats what paint tvr use and try to match it against your car. all tvr,s are bespoke so they are sprayed to the owners requirements.

Try giving the factory a call, they're normally pretty helpful with this sort of thing.

I'll check the code on mine as it looks the same colour and was sold to me as Midnight Blue and is written as such in the back of the handbook by the selling dealer. I'll be interested to see how you get on. Got a few stone chips that would benefit from touching in

P422 - A576B is TVR's own Midnight Blue.

There is no cross reference, it is unique to TVR - i.e. it is not another manufacturers colour e.g. Porsche Midnight Blue

If that is the case, expect to pay over the odds for it compared to an ICI mix. When mine had a front end paint after a headlight upgrade, my code showed the paint was a 'factory mix',and although it was Imperial Blue, a Ford colour, I was assured that the paint/colour would differ between the two!

Yes, they charged me £12.95 plus VAT a few years ago for a very small pot .... and that was after I had spent nearly £1700.00 on a service plus other things that required 'urgent' attention.

Maybe I'll give Halfords a try at matching the colour...got to be worth a tenner.
