surprised you say that. Mine came off without me knowing (deep mud so removed silently!) Then noticed the car running 5 - 10 degs hotter. Thought my rad was at fault but since replacing the splitter everything back to normal. Without it, driving at speed didn't bring the temp down - stayed at 90 deg and hotter when in traffic. Now down to as low as 70 deg on m'way and sits at 80 deg most of the time.

Matt you might want to consider the up or down idea

Not surprised I say that.
Mine's been on and off in a bid to see if it did anything of any worth and my conclusion was the above. Isn't a front splitter supposed to have been specifically tailored for a vehicle to direct an oncoming airflow around the side of a car in a bid to reduce drag/increase high speed stability etc?! The design of this appears to have been the work of a child with new crayons or an ex-employee of Caterpillar: if you wanna push mud, keep it.
As for cooling, surely it's mounted too far back to direct any usable airflow through the radiator?!
These are my thoughts

I think the idea is to create an area of high pressure just in front of the splitter and low behind which draws air through the rad. It's not designed to force the air through like a duct or ram. Similarly, it's not there for stability/downforce like a full (race style) splitter but some say it has this side effect (I didn't notice any stability issues without it even at 140mph at Goodwood).
I replaced mine with a plastic one which is slightly wider and deeper than standard but even the standard one has a noticeable effect. Can't understand why yours didn't.
(Definitely no good as a mud plough)

At the time of reading the thread x ref'd by seasider, my splitter was absent from the car. Upon the findings of others, I fitted it in a bid to establish for myself whether some of the findings held true; I couldn't concur.
If there is more to be heard from others with a positive view of this item, then I may well refit it for a re-assessment. For the time being however, I remain somewhat sceptical.

Where did you buy that from + how much?
All this talk about splitters - and I have noticed that mine does not have one! (nor a hint of marks where one would of been)

Home made and 4 for £5! It's a piece of gutter (the squareish profile not the half round) cut in half lengthways. I bought a 2m length of black gutter (for £5 after negotiating down from £9
) cut in half (ie 2 x 1m lengths) and then cut in half along its length. I then stuck this to the car with silicon I had in the garage. I got the initial idea from here or BB's site, but chose to silicon rather than screw fix it and also the originator made lots of cuts in the plastic to make it easier for bits to break off. I couldn't be bothered with that and in any event I've only lost one in 4 years. It is very effective and even though you never see it, it looks much nicer than the original
Fitted a splitter to mine a few weeks ago. It certainly helps keep the temperature down whilst running, probably anywhere upto 5 degrees. I also found my car more stable at higher speeds. I fitted a solid one though and having seen Seasider's at the Griff Growl, his is a better idea, nice one Del. I'll have to knock up one that you can raise and lower while in the driving seat.

Still working on something better than a bit of string
I've noticed a good 5 degrees & nearer 10 on a run/hot day.
As for stability i hope to be testing at some higher speeds soon
