Bridgestone SO1's
Discussion
They were also original fitment on Griff500's around 1996 (ours had them!).
Can't see why you couldn't fit them to the rear on a Chimaera, your rolling radious would be slightly different but we are talking millimetres here. It may change slightly gearing (speedo reading) and ride height.
1996 spec Chimaera 225/55 16 gives tyre height as 55% of 225 = 123.75mm
therefore 235/50 16 gives tyre height as 50% of 235 = 117.50mm
(only the difference of a decent tread depth (ie worn 225/55s have same radius as new 235/50s))
but 1999 spec Chimaera 225/50 anyway (112.5mm)
therefore this time we have an increase of 5mm!!!
or 1999 spec Chimaera 500 245/45 (110.2mm)
TVR are nothing if not inconsistent!!!
remember TVR fitted 205/60 on the Chimaera Front (123mm) and 215/55 with PAS (118mm) (or sometimes 215/50 - 107mm !! a bigger difference).
