Firstly folks, sorry for the immense wait you've had to endure...but wanted it to be right, which meant learning new video and audio software, buying a DVD writer, pulling what's left of my hair out when things didn't work, like video compression and disc burning blah blah blah.

But its finally finished to my satisfaction. Just watched the DVD edition on a big tele.....oh yes!!! Quality is fab. The CD works out at half the quality (mpeg1) in video, but the audio is the same. Also the CD doesn't have the menus and chapters like the DVD.
Both are identical movies (approx. 28mins.) with plenty of engine noise and a decent soundtrack. If you've seen the Surrey Run 1 movie, its nothing like that! This should keep your interest for the whole movie.

Enough of me telling you about it, I'll let the guys who have already seen the final beta version tell you what they thought of it.

Get in touch and let me know what you want. I'd love to be in a position to be able to give the DVD versions away, but cannot afford to due to the cost of the materials and hardware...oh and the lack of job (no sympathy please, its given me the time to do this )

From reading another post on this...I've got the following people as wanting copies.

Luca,
Please add me to the list!! The hi-quality trailer was fab! Makes that Best of British vid seem very dull...

Cheers,
Robin

Just an

But why not put the MPEG-1 videos through an MPEG-4 coder? Then you can have DVD quality in a size that fits on a CD-Rom.

Luca,

Could you put me down for a DVD please. If there's enough space could you also burn a copy of Surrey Run 1 on there as I've only got the downloaded version. Cheers,

TomO

CD please.

I go with Plotless - DVD quality on CD Mpeg4 - is this possible?

I'll have a CD - let us know costs and how you wann distribute - will the mpeg on the site be an inferior quality to on the CD?

Its certaintly possible as my Mpeg4 rips of DVD's on CDROM will testify!

You need a little encoder called flaskMPEG though there are others, it does take a while though, even on a monster box.

Having just seen the DVD version I can testify to the fantastic job Luca Brazzi has done in producing it.

A great record of the day, and enjoyable footage in its own right.

Thanks Steve - long live Sleepy Fish Productions.

Good suggestion, but.....it took over 10 hours for the machine to produce the DVD image. I really don't want to make another image to include Surrey Run 1 and the associated menus. Sorry guys. I'll see about including a separate CD with SR#1, but no promises.

PS the web file, when posted will be around 20mb, any more and dial up users won't bother.

As you know Steve, I'm a PHer that works hard at his lunches.

And we know that TVRs are much more reliable if they're used regularly so it would have been remiss of me not to drive down to Luca's and then take the loooooong way home.
