Speedo calibration (MY96 Griffith)

Finally got around to playing with a GPS in the Griff. These are the results:

Speedo GPS

30 27.3
40 36.21
50 45.12
60 54.03
70 62.94
80 71.85
90 80.76
100 89.67
110 98.58

Measurements were taken with at least 5 satalites in view and repeated 3 times each at 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 on the speedo.

As you can see, there's about a 10% error there - which will get worse as the tyres wear (about half done at the moment.)

Is there a way of easily calibrating the speedo? I don't really want to take the whole thing apart for nothing...

Thats just about spot on with the readings of the speedo on my cerb v's my RA2, although I havent been quite as scientefic as you

I know my 40mph (speedo) reading is spot on with yours as the only time in 18 months I didnt have the RA2 with me I went through a camera, mis read the speedo (thought I was reading 35mph..allowing for the over read, when in fact it was reading 40mph) and got an NiP for 36mph

Hope somebody comes up with an easy (and cheap) solution

Nope.

The only way is to get the unit recalibrated by someone like Speedy Cables.

I suppose you could stick a calibrated scale on the glass of the speedo so that it obscures the scale on the instrument. If you produced a tidy, printed version with some drawing software, it might look acceptable.
