Hello everyone.
New member here.
I am hoping to soon become an owner of one of Blackpool's finest.
Either Cerb or Tuscan - not really decided yet. Need to drive them methinks.
To help get an idea what I'm getting into, can someone enlighten me as to exactly what the servicing costs are for the cerbera and tuscan? I think I saw somewhere that a major service was around £700 and a minor about £250, depending on model.
Also what are the service intervals?
And, finally, I am happy to live with a minor amount of unreliability to own my dream car (since childhood!). So what are they REALLY like to live with.
Please don't get defensive with this, I want the real picture. Like I said, I ain't bothered about a few niggles/gripes.

I think your costs sound low..
There may be a few indies who might do it for that but £350 for a minor (with no other work) and £600+ for a major are closer..
Budget at least 1K per year (6K miles) and more f your milage is greater.
You will find prices vary but the Cerb & S6 engined cars do need a lot of £££ servicing.

Remember, a TVR is like a woman. Give her attention and splash a bit of cash no her, and she'll give you the ride of your life.
Cerbs and Speed6 cars are like a higher maintenence woman than the RV8 ones. Bit more cash, bit more attention for more oomph when you ride.
Still worth any price for the TVR grin!

Those comments reminded me of Swiss Tony from the Fast Show!! He always started off a conversation with comments like, "Washing a car is kinda like making love to a beautiful woman..."

Main dealer costs are about £500 for a 6k and £900 for a 12k service on a Speed 6, as the valve's need checking at least every 12k. Reliability wise I've run my Tuscan as a daily driver for 2.5 years and about 18k miles. A few little niggling problems, a lot of which I've sorted myself, but it's only had to be recovered once when the clutch slave failed. My costs are on my profile.
Do it, it's worth it.

Check out TVR Power (www.tvr-power.co.uk) website. It contains good info on servicing and charges. And depending where you are in Norfolk, they might even be convenient for you.
Servicing costs are almost irrelevant. It is the fixes and niggles that cost. A cerb will require a 3K pa budget for running costs. Might be as low as £1K in reality BUT could be as high as £6K (or more if the unluckiest owner in the land).
PLUS if you want to add revised suspension, wheels, brakes, hi fi, lights etc.......
A Tuscan can be a lot more ie engine MORE likely to require major work.

Just what I was thinking when I read that!!
The bottom line is that particularly when running a Cerb (I have not had a Speed 6), you need to allow a reserve of a few thousdand pounds just in case. Deal with any problems/requirements when they first occur and it will be cheaper in the long run. They thrive on regular driving and regular maintenance.
Even a RV8 Chim (as I have now) is not a 'cheap' car to run and service, although significantly cheaper that a Cerbera! If buying a Cerby, I would allow around £5k (on top of whatever you pay for the car) as a slush fund, and you should be fine! Also well worth getting an expert to inspect any car you are looking to buy. Even a very recent car may have been neglected! Best of luck, but drop me a mail if you want any more Cerb or Chim info!
