Looking for a dealer who sells TVR and Porsche
Discussion
Sorry, should have been more specific. I'm looking to trade in my Chimaera for a Boxster S (no flames please, I've driven and owned TVR and Porsche, so I know what I'm doing).
I figured the best chance of a trade-in was to find a group that deals in both or if any TVR dealers have Boxsters in their used stock possibly.

I think Sytner's the only dealer that has both TVR (Warwick) and Porsche (Brighton) but as they're about to lose TVR they'll be no better than any other Porsche dealer.
Don't forget to take plenty of pictures of your Chimaera so in a few months time you can remind yourself of what you've thrown away!

Thanks for all the info. I thought that might be the case.
As for TVR, great idea but poorly executed. Until their dealers (at least the ones I've dealt with) learn some customer service, I won't be coming back. As much as I love the noise and the looks, it just isn't acceptable to pay a large sum of money over for a car, only for bits to fall off it and for it to be less than reliable.
BTW, I'm speaking from first hand ownership experience of a Tuscan and Chimaera before anyone thinks I'm just slagging off TVR for the sake of it.

Hi Ascender, I see you're near me - I know for a fact that Glenvarigill Porsche/Ferrari dealer in Colinton have taken in TVRs before as trade-in, as I have seen a 2nd hand Tuscan in their showroom. They may be less keen on a Chimaera though.
If you want a good price, you'll need to wait till spring; if you need to sell now, you'll need to accept a crap price....

Having gone from a Cerbera (and before that an S2 and 2 Chimaeras) to a new Boxster S recently I can definitely recommend the latter. It can't match the Cerbera for looks or straigh-line performance, but as an every day car I absolutely love it. Mind you, I'm hoping that it's going to liven up a a bit once its run in and I go above 4000 rpm

Sytner Group will phone their TVR arm for a valutaion on your TVR and then discuss the Porker requirements...did this with my cerbera when I sold it and bought a 355...did it all through Graypaul and they took my Cerbie off me (at a good price too) and I bought the 355 from them ....
Why do people blame the dealer when bits fall off.
Blame the manufacturer.
A number of TVR dealers provide very good customer service, but if the product is at fault there is little they can do but be symphathetic and fight your cause at the factury, with warranty labour rates at half the normal rate. Looking at the recent changes in the dealer network, some have given up on this.
If you have the attitude that you blame TVR, NOT the dealer for the fault, this will get the dealer on your side and smooth the relationship, you DO still have the expectation that the dealer is TVR's representative and will efficiently sort it out.

But the point I'm making is that the dealers I've dealt with didn't give a flying
about me as a customer. I wasn't blaming them for the problems with the cars, but they simply didn't seem to care and certainly didn't try to make much of an effort to resolve things to my satisfaction.
As for the factory's attitude to their customers, this is another topic completely. I have heard some really bad stories from previous owners of Cerbies and Tuscans (who I have actually met so I can confirm they aren't just rumor-mongering) to form my own opinion that TVR as a company don't seem to give a stuff once the car has left the factory.
And yes, I do accept that there are good and bad dealers, but with there being so few TVR dealers in some parts of the country you'd think TVR would try to enforce some sort of quality standards to guarantee at least a minimum standard of service. Do they contact customers after having their car in for service by a dealer for example? I don't know anyone who's had such a call from TVR, but its regular practice for Porsche and BMw for example.
