All that tail-end action has seen my rear tyres facing retirement, especially since winter now seems to be setting in good.
My two usual suppliers (BlackCircles and EventMobileTyres) are showing a few pennies difference around £163, has anyone got them for any cheaper that that - size is 255/35ZR18s for spiders.
BTW Prefer the Goodyears to either Bridgestone's or Toyos so far, so keen to stick with them as the wet weather grip they offer is amazing.

Try www.elitedirect.com based in Rainham, Essex on the old A13 so will just be a short blast round the M25 for you.

I took my Chim to Elite a few years ago.
Never again.
They left the centre caps off, when I asked where they were they said they were in the car as they were held on with Mastic so they couldn't refit them. O.K they were held on with mastic, but they had not refitted them and had not told me that they could not fit them. Instead they had left them, dirty and with mastic in the centre console
I put the centre caps back on, 2 years later they are still there!!
I wanted one of the tyres back, they didn't ask about putting it in the boot, they just put a sheet over the front seat and plonked the tyre on the seat. I couldn't see a thing out of the passenger side at all!! I put it in the boot, no problems at all. Add to that the both of the wheels were filthy aswell, with handprints and grease.
The trouble is they have a bunch of kids there working at the weekend, they used to have lots of expensive cars there and be really busy. The last few times I went down it was just a few boyracers down there and that was it. I sent an email through their web site stating the way my car was given back to me.
They never responded.

Hmmm - never had that bad an experience and I have used them for years. Have found they are best avoided on a Saturday afternoon as they are mega busy and the wait can run into hours. Good thing though is all their bays are easily visible so you can see the work carried out (I am obsessive and wouldn't even let the drive the my Chim into the bay or even give them the keys! for fear of grease marks on the leather) Got a new front on my Laguna a few weeks ago and was in and out in 15 mins (on a Tuesday lunchtime). I had a phone around and they were not only the cheapest by miles but also said that the Laguna's tyre pressure sensors posed no problem, while everyone else (including Renault!) sounded less sure.
When I went about a year before they were quite helpful on the Supra.
However It's not nice coming out and seeing your car with filthy greasy wheels, the centre caps missing and a tyre stuck on your passenger seat.
I asked one of the guys behind the counter to come and have a look, but he didn't seem to interested in doing that and seemed rather unhelpful & abrupt with me.
I think the trouble is if you go there on a saturday you get the trainee tyre monkey's fitting tyres.
I'd rather pay a few more ££ elsewhere.

www.mytyres.co.uk - £143.10 which includes VAT and delivery. Then about £10 a tyre for fitting at Kwik Fit. Job done!

Did that today, phoned my local, said I could get them (didnt say where, obviously) for £140 (thanks for doing the legwork Rob
) and they agreed to price match. Be in tomorrow

Give STAR TYRES a call (almost opposite Elites). I've been going there for years, in and out in no time at all and cheaper than Elites. When i got a pair of Goodyears for my Cerb I printed the Mytyres price list off and asked Paul at star tyres if he could better the price, he matched the price and included the fitting

Visited Elite to get the tyres on Friday and was very impressed at the level of care, instead of just throwing the valves out, they took off my nice caps, noticed that they had some kind of shiny cover on, then refitted the same so it all looks good - the wheels actually went back on cleaner than when they came off, certainly the first time I've seen that - mind you they make the car look dirty now!
Only problem is they managed to over charge me by £40 more than the invoice when they tapped it into the PDQ machine, stupid of me not to notice, but will be on the
tomorrow to sort that out.

Tripps, sorry I couldn't make it for a drink. Glad the cerb has its new rubber. Pretty pleased with Elite myself. I bought a couple of tyres off ebay for my Laguna and they only charged my £9 a side to fit, which I thought was fair - I don't trust back street fitters as it has the tyre pressure monitors
