How do you clean the exterior of your TVR when it's so cold?

How do you keep the water from freezing in the sub-zero temperatures?

On a day like today park it in the sun for an hour or so. wash it with hot water and then park in the sun again as you chamois dry.

What if it's not possible to wash it during the day when the sun is out? And you only have access to cold water?

I was cleaning off some tar deposits on my Sons car the other day and wore some PVC protective gloves, as I used petrol, and it's always difficult to get rid of the smell of petrol. Then I washed off the petrol with water still wearing the gloves. I haven't tried washing the whole car this way, but it's an option if your hands get cold!

The Griff looks like pooh today cos I washed & waxed it yesterday - because it was cold & damp the car & wax never dried properly so it looks as if an 11 year old polished it. Doh! Have brought cloths to work, so going to have another go during lunch.

No I'm not. I work days so don't get the opportunity to wash my car during the day. By the time I get home it's already dark and below zero.

What affect does hot water have on the paint and fibre glass in freezing weather? My TVR's paint and finish have never been as robust as the metal/plastic cars I've owned so it's a bit of a worry. My previous two TVR's were parked in a heated underground car park with car washing facilities so it was easy to clean them year round. But now I live in a house and the only time I have availalbe to clean my car is in the evening out in the open which at the moment is sub-zero conditions (and most likely will be like this until next year).

Dont get me wrong, there is nothing better than a shiney TVR out and about. The time I have spare goes on making sure it is mechanically perfect which I think is of paramount importance.
Servicing is the time for getting you car cleaned

Also the small matter of my anal neighbour who insist on cleaning his M3 and Mini Cooper EVERY weekend even if one of them has been in the garage all week. The paint has got to be so thin on his cars! I get a real perverse kind of pleasure when I bring the car out of the garage not quite in tip-top condition, who knows, even perhaps a puddle splash up the side He must have apoplexy every time he sees it!

Warm it up a bit.

Seriously - if you can't get to wash it in at least plus 5 deg don't bother. Don't put hot water on frozen bodywork.
