Is it just me or is the bottom wishbone attachment point for the dampers a piece of Crap design?

Changing rear dampers is easy. Fronts, well top are easy, bottoms -> the wishbone C section at the point of attachment for the base of the damper is pretty well hidden in the part that is attached to the hub. CRAP.

To add to this my bolt seems to to be welded (well rusted internally to the sleeve of the bottom damper attachment - no amout of persuasion would move it! - and I used alot of persuasion!)

New bolt and angle grinding the bolt through carefully (only way) not touching the mount.

Would have been so much simpler if the bottom attachment points were just lugs with holes in

Will get new bottom wishbone next year, such a poor design and no rust protection to speak of!

Built down to a price!

Yes. It's a nasty design.

Jelli is probably taking the carbon leaf springs off a Vette as we speak

Alan - SEAC at Fairmile next time?

Should have these bottom two bolts sorted at weekend and have Suspension in the ball park.

I was thinking that if there was much more vette in it then he will have to change the name :

Chimvette or
Corr-maera

Seriously - we all know TVR's are build to a price. They are a good basic design that is simple and works but can easily be improved in small ways.

Really only engine is Vette.

And ancillaries, wiring, and exhaust! Box is tko600 so not the t56 from vett / vanquish - better than that handles more torque, alot ligther.

Bring the SEAC and I'll bring the tape measure!

It spent a while trying to get the bolt in from the wrong side without much success until I realised it will only go in from one side as its too long.

Yes, its pants. Its not even easy when all the components are fresh, but get some corrosion in there and there is just no leverage, or access, to help get things stuck.

Interested to see what solution could be found which didn't alter the spring rates.

Tempting but the SEAC (wedge) rear suspension design cannot really handle 400bhp.. it's not really as tied down as the more modern TVR's and everything becomes a consumable.

I'm going to be happy when it has a tad over 300 real bhp..

You could weld plat over the top and then have lugs on top with hole through as per the rear - this would shorten the damper stroke about 1+" but this sould be ok I think and then run 1" shorter spring if you have adjustable platform shocks. Obviously not doing in mine for insurance and buggeration reasons - but it does make you wonder who draw them up - hopefully not current TVR employee.

I like Chim575! Will be a second road one start of next year....
