I've got some North Face Fleecey type gloves, they are specifically designed for COLD DRY skiing, but not great for wet skiing, if you know what i mean, they have grips points on the palm and finger tips and are ideal driving gloves IMHO.

Thats funny! I tried wearing my karting gloves! I dont find them that warm when I kart, so discounted them!
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I was begining to think I was sad, but on saturday I thought my hands were going to fall off!!

The karting ones such as the Sparco Pro Kart (£13.95 plus vodka) I normally use on the road wont keep you very warm no. The multi-nomex layered Sparco Hurricane (almost entry level fireproof race glove, £25.95 plus vodka) will keep you very very warm indeed.

My proper race gloves tend to get used for normal driving in the winter months. Looks a bit silly but if it keeps my digits nice and toasty I don't really care.
Was using middle of the range OMP gloves but they only seem to last about a year before the padding goes all funny. Trying some more expensive ones at the moment and so far they have been excellent.

Use a pair of leather-palmed gloves from John Lewis. In fact use them most of the year round.
There is something called Raynauds Disease. Varying degrees of severity but at the least annoying, because it is a circulatory problem. A reaonable minority of the population actually has this. Therefore some people are more susceptible to the cold than others.
Perhaps what you want to search for is an inner glove with embedded heating element. That'd be quite thin and therefore be a good compromise.

Yes you can get heated gloves, try biking kit shops such as Hein Gericke, M & P, and major motorcycle dealers! Have not used them myself, but they seem to be popular with the Harley/GoldWing brigade!!
