TVR plans for 2006 and beyond

Pushing into Europe and the US

The Sagaris and the old factory
The Sagaris and the old factory
TVR has big plans for 2006, building on a good year in 2005. Sales figures are up from 2004, as is product quality, and three new cars were released, the Sagaris, Tuscan 2 and Tuscan Convertible.

According to TVR spokesman Jason Oxley, the biggest seller is the Sagaris and "sales are going in the right direction. We halted production before the release of Sagaris and Tuscan 2 because we wanted the cars to have 100 per cent quality. The days when TVR would release cars before they were ready are history."

Oxley also said that TVR was close to getting through the Euro IV emissions approval process. "It's a big step forward", he said. "It allows us to move into Europe, and after that the US, maybe in a couple of years' time."

Coupled with this is the new factory that TVR is about to build. "The current factory wouldn't be able to cope with both the volumes and technology that's now needed for Euro IV", said Oxley. On progress with the new plant, he said: "Two companies have submitted tenders and costings, and we're just deciding which one to give the contract to."

Let's hope they find the funds to do a redesign of thei site. It's been practically unusable since about 2001/2002, when they started a Flash-only site. Repeated requests for info have been ignored, despite their (short-lived) public offer of sending a copy of the site (which didn't make sense in any case) to those unable to view it. Yes, I know I bang on about it every time, but hell it's not hard to get right...

They need to sort their powerplants out before they can start to make such bold plans.
Unfortunately the sp6 engine has damaged their reputation and residual values to the extent that many previous and existing owners wont touch a current model TVR with a barge pole.......damn shame as I like many really like the sagaris but wont take the hit.

Previously it was only non previous owners that were wary due to countless hours of tvr bashing heard down the pub/bar, but when owners of 5-10 years plus currently wont "go there" then further work has to be done and not just on build quality.

GoodLuck to them though as there arent many cars that look as good as a TVR.

When are they gonna send out the artists impression of the new facility?? I hope they do a factory like Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and Mclaren, something really sexy to reflect the cars, with a lake out front!!!

Rubbish.

Many previous owners of V8 powered cars have swapped to a S6 and i for one hope to trade in the Griff for a Tam next year.

I agree the reputation needs improving and ensuring that engine failures are comparable with other high performance marques must be top priority, but from what we hear this is being addressed.

Regarding the factory, there's a picture in this months Sprint but who knows how up to date it is.

I wish TVR the best of luck. If I had the money I'd have a Tuscan, if they can make one that can be lived with on a daily basis, even better. BTW, I'm a web site designer myself, and if TVR need a new one I'll be happy to help - in exchange for the aforementioned Tuscan...

I for one am sick of pr1cks like this using every available forum to knock the TVR engine. For God's sake give it a bloody rest.

Good luck, TVR - stick it up em!

I think the point is that before they move to Euro IV emissions approval, they really should deal with the Speed Six reliability issues first or at least make it clear what has been changed to make the unit reliable. Can you really see the Germans putting up with engine rebuilds at 6,000 miles? Let alone America, my god can you imagine the legal action! Pr1ck? I don’t think so, he is just being realistic! For the record I have owned RV8/SP6 & AJP8 powered cars.

Strange thing is, they've been selling S6 TVRs here in The Netherlands since 2003, with no rebuilds so far and the highest mileage customer car clocking up over 40,000 miles according to the importers. Certainly the '03 Tuscan press car I drove early 2004 would've been considered 'moon mileage' in Blighty, judging from what I see in the classifieds...

Now if late(ish) spec S6 engines indeed routinely need to be rebuilt at anything between 6,000 and 18,000 miles in the home market, it would seem we either get a special 'export' version here in The Netherlands, or the client profiles are so different between the two as to explain a very marked difference in drivng habits and mechanical sympathy .

Or a difference in the fuel or oil used in the NL-based cars? Interesting...

Righty. On a Blackpool trading estate - I suspect its going to be your usual rectangular metal shelled (technical name?) warehouse stylee building. Perhaps with a posh front end. Don't waste any more money than you need to on the factory TVR, spend it on tooling or something (decent sealed unit lighting would be good - hint hint).

Well said! First thing's first, the reason we are contributing on this forum is the alure of the marque but there is a genuine issue with the Speed Six engine - currently.
A friend of mine has a 'Blackpool Tuscan' due to his Sagaris going pop already so all is not right by a long shot it would seem.
I for one hope they do make it abroad if that's what they want to do but to introduce a new marque to a country just for the engines just to go bang very soon into ownership surely is export suicide?
We currently wait in the region of six weeks for a rebuild, how long would Carlos from Spain have to change his name to Carless for??

I personally like the S6 engine, it sounds glorious, performs really well and is exclusively TVR.
The icing on the cake would be reliability.

Then Johnny Foreigner can have a go at taming it!

But their cars cost considerably more, and in the case of AM and Royce sell more than 10 times what TVR do.

I don't care what the factory looks like, metal frefab etc. As long as they build the cars right and let us visit at Back Home!

Yeh but apart from that it was 100% though right?
