Dodgy claims from well known dealer

Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 1999 Cerbera from a very reputable company down in Heathfield, East Sussex of which I can only but recommend in every way as they are impeccable with their service and friendly help even after the sale.
Just for my own piece of mind I took my Cerbera into my local TVR dealership near ****** for a visual inspection as I wanted to see if the car was actually as good as it looked, sounded, drove.....etc. The report I received did bring up some VERY minor faults but it also flagged up some not so minor faults also which was quite concerning for myself especially as I had only owned the car for 1 week !!
I have an engineering background, 12 years to be exact, so I thought I would check the problems out for myself.
On inspection of my car I found that SOME of the claims, the not so minor ones, of the garage where completely inaccurate as the parts which they said where 'worn and corroded' where actually in fine condition and probably only a few months old !!!
This made me quite suspicious of the whole inspection so I booked it into another garage as I suspected he agreed that the claims made about the mechanical problems on my car where not correct and pointed out other areas which where fine but had been highlighted as problems by Company X!!!
Both me and the missus have a TVR and we was both going to use this particular garage as our main point of contact and service for our cars, NOT ANY MORE !!!!
If anyone else has had problems with any Fraudulent claims of problems with their TVR's please let us all know, this needs to stop !!

It is not unknown for opinions to vary wildly from place to place.
I took my Chimaera to an indie just after I bought it to try and solve ingress of water. The indie said I needed new seals, membranes, gromets, etc., plus found a leaking power steering pump and a dodgy clutch slave cylinder.
I took it to another indie who said "b0ll0cks to that, your seals are perished but still watertight and your hood is leaking because it needs waterproofing". He re-waterproofed my hood and did not much else, charged me a fraction of the price the other indie was quoting (obviously, as less work was done) and 3 years on I still haven't replaced the seals because they are still watertight, and there is still nothing wrong with my power steering or clutch cylinder.
In fairness, the first indie has a reputation for replacing anything that looks dodgy "just in case" and some people swear by him for that as they believe that means their cars are in top condition. The second indie (who I still use) has a reputation for advising you of things that will need replacing at some point and "keeping an eye" on them and replacing when needed.
As for your findings, it could be a similar situation or it could be fraudulent. Only you can decide which it is.

I cant go into really close detail about the claims but the things that where claimed to be faulty where actually quite new, one was the disks. They said they where very corroded and warped causing vibration. They where all replaced less than 1000 miles ago, they have not been on a track and are showing only very slight marks of ‘bedding in’ and are not vibrating at all.
With the high cost for replacing the original AP’s they are not cheap and I get the feeling that they just think that if you can afford to run a TVR they could try to pull the wool over our eyes.????
The point is that we should never take the first price or inspection that is carried out to be accurate, try somewhere else or check it out yourself, you could save a packet !!

Yep. I had a Clutch Master Cylinder leaking and very little time to fix it in as I need the car 3 days later and I was working every day. One Indi was asking £150 for repacling the seals and £530 for replacing the master cylinder, 6 hours labour. Rang another Indi who replaced the Master Cylinder for £150 in one hour whilst I waited.
Having recently bought my 'Previously cherished' Tuscan from a dealer who might not be a million miles away from Heathfield, I too can do nothing but praise them. From the initial email enquiry to actually going to see a car (over 6 months) a very polite and professional approach was taken. Now I have my car (and a few niggles, but hey - TADTS!!) they have promised to send out a low loader to collect, fix and return via low loader - no mean feat when I am 3 hours away!! All FOC!! Some dealers just know how to treat their customer correctly and some don't. All I can say is "Keep up the good work"
Yep, they offered the same courtesy to me too when I told them what the **** based company had incorrectly clamed the problems with my Dream machine.
They said that they would come and pick it up, rectify the problems and return it to me with no further charge.
What a ‘dream’ company !!! ;-)

DM are a fine company in my experience. I bought my Sagaris for them, dealt with Lisa, Ben and James and they have all been very good to me. They picked up 'gris from my work last Monday, took it down to Heathfield, sorted the colant leak and returned her to me at work lunchtime the next day. They keep in contact with me and happily ring me back on Sundays to answer my queries when I have them. From my humble, they are good folks.

As i stated in my first post i can only but recommend the indi in Heathfield, E Sussex, i would use them if they was in my area.
Ian at Middlewich. No contest.
Dad has checked over his work on my car as has the guys at the factory and they are very happy.

He's ex Chris Niels and has a growing list of repeat customers. Works stupid (long) hours, is very reasonable and doesn't bullshit. Will show you any faults before going ahead with any work.

Its taken me a couple of attempts to work it out - but I think youre right.
TVRxxx can you confirm you are happy with the dealer you purchased the car from but not so with the people who did the inspection? (without nameing names)
If youve managed to confuse Ted & DJC - imagine how the rest of us must feel
