De-Catted Cerb 4.5

want to de-cat my 4.5, has anyone done this and what kind of power increases am i to expect and is there anything i should be looking out for. i have found a supplier for the replacement pipes in thick wall austenite stainless, £120 delivered, so i just need some pointers, if any.

Don't know about fitting, as I was too lazy too do it myself! When fitted they took a while to bed in, and one pipe was initially lop-sided, so a little correction was needed.

Didn't hace it on the dyno before or after, but felt some extra urge in lower gears after fitting, but I didn't buy it performance, so that wasn't an issue.

It's the noise though that really makes it, you'll never look back, but anyone you drive by always will

you might want to try the cerbera forum and post question there. i've had all 3 cerbs i've owned de-catted. kept for obvious reasons ie MOT. not sure how much power is gained. sounds great though, and a night i get nice big flashes out the back!

also try the search feature - so many have been done it'll throw up some good results!

You could also try contacting Biff. He usually posts in the North East section but has a Cerb which he's decatted in the past. His car reached over 130dB at BNG earlier this year without the cats, so he'll be in a good position to tell you if its too loud!!!

Lol ... I sell two types of decats, one the straightforward decat and one which is linked which cuts the part throttle noise down considerably. I must be getting older and so must my customers 'cos the linked pipes outsell the std decats by about 10 to 1 .. most people fit decats with sports pipes in particular and then two weeks later they say it's too loud hence the introduction of the linked versions ..

What kind of ECU remapping is required? It must make some differance to the mixture as the flowrate of the exhaust gasses is being altered? is the std ECU re-mappable? (if there is such a word!)

Just bolt them on and go.

No remap required. System still keeps the lambda sensors.

Buy your pipes from TVR Carparts 01884 266755 £75ish plus postage. Or go for the linked ones from Trackcar.

Fit them yourself, or pay Kwikfit a back hander to do it - half an hour tops.

Oh yes, although I think stopping short of a straight through system is probably the best idea, unless you like your ears ringing 24x7!
