Track day silencers needed

Im after some silencers, preferably the same kind ACT sell to fit on the cerb (single cans, not the bigger heavier one which straps into the boot)

Does anyone have any kicking about/for sale?

Hi Bob,
If all else fails, I would recomend Tim from ACT.
I got mine from him and it was ( still is ) very good.
Its still sitting in the garage, and I would let you borrow it, only I am pretty sure it won't fit a Cerbera

He rents them for a tenner iirc. Spoke to him already, but they get so little use I figured a second hand set would be as new anyway, and half price. New years resolution is to take care of the pennies and let the pounds take care of themselves. Or something

Im not sure how loud mine is but would love to know. Last time on track, another yellow cerbie (also decatted with sports pipes) wasnt pulled off, but I was. We both had the same decat sports zhorst setup, although mine was a 4.5 vs his 4.2 which shouldnt make a difference

Its a case of both and

I dont recall it being £100, but if we agreed that, then I shall stand by my word (I'll only spend my winnings on ACT silencers anyway)

Id like to get hold of a sound meter from Tim (or off eBay if they sell them?)and see just how loud I am. Only paying £15 for the ones on eBay at the moment, but now youve pointed out the ACT ones dont need drilling I may let them go, but how hard can it be to drill them? Saving myself enough money (ACT ones are £96/pair if Im reading that right?) to warrant getting Austec to drill the holes. I like the look of the heavy duty Cerbera silencer on ACT's website, tho' it may be a little overkill for the 1 time a year Id use it

Most TVR's that I've sound tested with 'loud' sports pipes seem to register 106 ~ 108 db at 4500 rpm.

Other Std TVR's like Griff 500's and CHims are often around 90 (+)

Only tested 2 cerbs and they were both abound 106db and one with sports and one a 4.2 std (106) but old baffles..

Hi Bob,
Carn't honestly remember what I paid for it, it was 8 or 9 years ago. I probably still have the receipt in my file so if your really interested I will look it up. I don't think it will fit on the Griff, but then the Griff is quieter than the wedge anyway. Well, it would be if it didn't have any additional holes in the manifolds to let the noise out..... Still, gives me an excuse to buy a nice shiny set of stainless ones. Might leave it until just before the MOT though....
When is the next Surrey meet. Can I come and join you?
