Coil up an die.

Been messing with the car as usual and noticed the coil has something 'wobbling' around inside. Not noticed it before. Have I a problem? [besides the obvious] If so, what should I get as a replacement? Cheers.

They're full of oil, presumably to aid cooling.

The coil should be filled with oil; if you can feel it sloshing around inside then some of the oil must have leaked out - the coil is probably on borrowed time. Might be a good idea to start sorting out a spare just in case.

Sloshing oil or rattling are the signs of a dying coil. Bosch replacements are advised by Mark Adams.

Not for longer than 50 miles. You kind of get used to it, still pulls like a train.

No. Think it was because of valves recessed into head. Anyway moved on since. Still a puzzle though.
