Paint experts pls?

Hi,

A quick question for the car painting experts amongst us!

My new purchase A 4.3 1992 Griffith (see prof pic) has at some stage in its life had an aftermarket carbon fibre bonnet fitted

I do like the look as it has louvered vents included above the exhaust manifolds which should aid airflow

However when it was painted to match the car the carbon fibre weave is still visible through the paint i.e a check pattern (not smooth finish)

Will a decent body shop be able to repray this and get a smooth finish?

Speak to Darryl at Fullbridge Restoration in Maldon, Essex. They did the front end on my Griff, similar to your's. I know they also restored an F40 for a very fussy customer, so that you could no longer see the weave through the paint.

yes they will be able to get rid of it, when people spray carbon generaly they dont use primer and a very light coat of paint to pupposely show the carbon through the paint

with boats we spray an epoxy coating over the matt to build it up then sand back and paint.The cabonfibre uses epoxy as a resin to wet out what is floppy matt.If you use lots of layers of paint it will crack more easy than building up over the pattern with epoxy.
