...slightly temperamental blower (for the heater).

Over the last few weeks every now and then the blower would stop and then start again for no apparent reason. However, today I found a way of fixing it. You ain't never gonna guess what it is. £100 to anyone that can!

Do we get a clue, it is more obvious (like puting new bushes into the motor, cleaning the leaves out of the heater-box) or bizarre )like discovering it works as long as the brake pedal is pressed)?

My MGB heater motor works until the heater matrix gets warm. Then it stops are refuses to restart.

Basically, I gently open and close the glove box and then it works fine.

Beats the hell out of me?

maybe there is a wire chafing and when you move the lid it breaks and makes the contact?

Damn, Too late!.
I had a similar problem. Mine was cured by hitting the dash top directly above the fan switch (as us poor Chim drivers dont get a glovebox). Unfortunatley hitting a pothole had the same effect. The cause was a loose wire in the connector block linking the fan control circuit board to the switch.

I will not pay him on two counts:

1) He's two days too late!

2) Even then (after he was told the answer) he still got it wrong! Hitting the dash above the fan switch was, of course, the first thing I tried. The 'opening and shutting the glove box' solution was discovered by my 13 yr old daughter. She's well pleased with herself. Me, I'm just very confused!

S'funny coz I had a VERY similar prob ont' Cerb. I took the Passenger's-side cover off and found the Heater and Wiper control boxes hanging by their respective cables !
After fiddling a bit the blower now works no probs.

Unfortunately, I now have one of those infamous ribbon cables hanging around not plugged into any component !

Anyone have any idea exactly where it goes ?
(Yes, I know I can expect some of the most rude and biologically impossible answers)
