What Tyre Pressures for my Chim.?

Morning all,

Just wondered what tyre pressures you guys find most effecient. I am running Toyo's on my 2000w 450. Book states 22 front and 24 back is this a bit low?

The book pressures aren't low,even though it does sound it compared to everyday cars.Youll find lots of people will have different views on what pressure to run a particular tyre type on these cars.I would just start out with the recommended 24/22 at first,then see what you think,and maybe experiment a little with a pound or so steps,to see if you prefer it.Dont run too low though,it's pretty dangerous and can cause blow outs.Sounds like your thinking higher anyway?Cheers,Mike

For run of the mill cars a change in the overall suspension (springs and tyres) make little difference for our cars it does matter. Toyo's have less rigid sidewalls that the SO2pp's for which the 22/24 book value is given. If the sidewalls are less ridged then increasing the pressure will compensate this for. The general consensus is that Toyo T1-S & T1-R run best at 24/26 for general fast road use.

I've put my Toyos up to 23/25, and I think they are better - might try 24/26 next.

24 front/26 rear - have had at this fir 18 months on Toyo's and the wear is about right.

I've the run the S03PP's on the rear of my Chimaera 500 at 2psi under book on the recommendation of other PHers and now they're nearing the end of their life they're showing a wear pattern consistent with OVER inflation. So, no, I don't consider the book values to be a bit low!
