As of 31/12 Kings Sports Cars in Warwick left the TVR Dealer network.
Their showroom still contains a number of new and ex-demo cars, mainly Tamoras and Tuscans but a few Cerberas as well.
I believe they're currently trying to shift the stock either back to the factory or within the dealer network.
This means that if anyone's in the market for a TVR at the moment there's bound to be deals to be had?

Good luck.... Andrew

PS. This thread is not meant to be about why Kings are no longer a dealer but about them needing to shift their current stock.

Kings? Closing? Gutted....

How's the Tamora going now alt? At the Warwick Mini meet it was away for paintwork if I remember correctly.

Hopefully we'll have another in the summer, and you will be able to make it down in the TVR (not that the Moggie wasn't a lovely car and everything )

I got my Chim from Kings a few months back!! My partner fell in love with the black Tuscan, can't believe they're not doing TVR anymore!!
I went to Kings because my first choice, (and nearer to me), David Gerald sports cars was a tad rude I thought. At the time we went up in my fiancees Cleo, as my TF was having warranty work done on it. We looked around and I wanted the Blue Chim 500. I asked very politely if I could have a test drive and he just smirked and said he wanted to see some cash, or get nearer to doing a deal with him before I could even step inside the car!! After that my partner told me we wern't going there again, I guess pulling up in an old Cleo gave him the wrong idea about us!
A week later we went to Kings and found Danny Chimes very helpful, and even had a long test drive of the car I have now. needless to say a week or so later the car was mine. I have heard some bad reports of Kings after sales service, but when I rang up for advice, Mr Chimes always rang me back and always very helpful.
Quite a contrast to David Gerald, who, if he was a little politer, would have got a sale!

do kings have a website?

NB I found the same of many TVR dealers, but in the end I pulled up in tatty jeans with egg butty stains driving a escort cabrio with maxpower exhaust (dont ask!) and the dealer stayed open late to take more for a spin in a chimeara, and took the escort for PX, I can just imagine lined up with his bentleys...

dealers sometimes just know how to sell or know how to scare customers off!

Suprised to hear this about DG's. I always had a top reception from start to finish...

I understand your frustration though, I went all over the place to buy a TVR before someone took me seriously (David Geralds funnily enough)

Makes you wonder how some places keep going, do they want to sell cars or not!

They do have a web site but I just looked on it and is only showing 2 Tivs on there in the used section, a purple Chim 500 ( My other half said they'd never sell it in that colour!!), and a Tamora, I love it, the partner doesn't!!
The web page I used to gather info on the TVRs before setting off to look is:
www.tvr-webmart.co.uk/tvr_info_links.html

The David Gerald site seems to be down at the mo!
I would also like to say that I went to D.Gerald first because I scoured these archives and David Gerald seems to be very good according to what I read, reality was a little different though!

Kings' website is www.sytnergroup.co.uk/kings/tvr/
They've got 2 new Tamoras and an ex-demo Tamora in the showroom. Not sure on the Tuscans/Cerberas?
If anyone does contact them about a sale then mention my name please (they're still arranging some warranty work for me).
Cheers.... Andrew

Got my Chim from DGs and have nothing but praise for them. I'm sure they get a lot of dreamers though and need to try and weed them out so they can focus on the serious buyers.

They obviously got it wrong with Chris though...

I think Doug would be a bit distressed if he thought he'd upset a potential customer!

Can opened.. worms everywhere.. basically due to the name and shaming policy it is impossible to slate a dealer on here regardless of treatment, and to be fair that seems fair enough as there are two sides to every argument and the dealer would have little chance for reply. However this does add a slight bias to any dealer/trader opinion on here as you tend to only find the good comments and not hear of the bad ones. Sometimes its good to invite private email comment about an organisation that you're thinking of using, and you'd get to hear a fuller picture.

Cheers,
Matt.

Matt,
I was in no way slagging DG off, I just told it as it was. I know he does excellent sevice to TVRs, and I wanted to have mine serviced there, again, because of all the very good reports I have seen on here, but my partner cannot understand why after our experience there!
If we can only give good comments about dealers on here, is that not very un-balanced?

You must caught them on a "off" moment - I too went with them, after 4 months of searching London way, made my purchase on the spot after a drive/chat and they were just closing on a Saturday! I've since been back for two services . .

We all have opinions which is healthy. (And I drove a Rover 220 Coupe to their showroom but kept it in case the Chim broke down - which it hasn't!)

I once worked for Sytner and know that any dealer in the group will have access to info on stock and stand in value's.

Try your local dealer no matter what franchise and they should be able to help.

Just as an aside, I think you'll David Gerald isn't a 'he' it's a 'them' (Doug and John) (because 'he' sold the business to 'them' a few years back).

Chaps, Kings (ie. Sytner) need to get rid of their stock of TVRs as Sytner do not own another TVR dealership.
They will probably do this by offloading to another TVR dealer/factory for a discounted price.
The purpose of this thread is to let you know that private deals can probably done direct with Kings for cars in their current stock. It is not to name/shame Kings or any other dealer.
Cheers.... Andrew

Yup, good point...

I think we all have favourite dealers.

Thanks Andrew, it's useful to know where there may be good deals to be had. Mind you I think Mrs Dai Capp would turn a strange shade of red if I tried to convince her that another change of car would be a good idea!

Cheers

Indeed you weren't Chris.. I was just explaining the positive bias that exists, I have my own opinions on some people but know ted doesn't want them on here, just explaining things for the benefit of others.

Cheers
Matt.

Just as another aside, David Gerald was started by David Field and Gerald (Gerry) Jinks in the late 1980s. Gerry then bought out David's share and sold the business to John and Doug about 6 years ago.

More on topic, I remember a few years back when the delivery time on a new TVR was 20 months and the factory were turning out 40 cars a week. I was a little surprised to learn on my last visit to the factory that almost half of the production was for dealer stock (or so I was led to believe).

Thanks for that Matt . I have to say that I still came away from DGs with a big smile on my face just seeing and hearing the cars, and seeing my other half jump a mile when a Griff with sports exhaust started up,, in the workshop!!!
I have noticed in the Sprint mag that there is now a TVR dealership in Bromsgrove, and it looks like the MG Rover place I got my first MGF from, is it the same??

Still sad that Kings is no longer dealing in TVRs though, hope it doesn't do anything to my Warranty!!!
