Have just had a great morning thrashing around Bedfordshire listening to my new exhaust note (de-catted - sounds awesome). The weather has been superb today.

On my travels I saw two blue Griffs with the roof down and chimp going for it down the A428.

Ah, roll on the summer.

I expect most fellow tiv's are out and about enjoying the sun while it lasts!

So you didn't have any snow then?

None where I am in Langdon Hills, Essex, but a bit about 5 miles up the road in Brentwood and quite a bit in Kent I believe.

Just got mine out of the garage, so I could get in the garage loft.
Put it away again, green light on the dash showing it was less than 4 deg.So at least I know that works now.

Local council seem to have been competing with God overnight to see who could spread the deepest layer! I think the snow just beat the salt. Now we need a couple of days of rain to wash the roads! Otherwise its down to pulling the lawn sprinkler under the length of the car!

Hi Tony

That sounds like it could have been me - dark blue, with roof off, about lunchtime?

If it was, then I'm disappointed I didn't see (or hear) you. Lovely wasn't it?

Had a grand time blasting around Notts/Derbys myself today. Beautiful conditions by mid morning, roads starting to dry in the sun.

Must say I bottled the roof off malarkey, a touch too cold for that.

Sadly no other TVR's and a filthy Griff to wash in the freezing cold (I think I'll take to the local handwash folks tomorrow!)

Can't beat a winter thrash!

I went out simply to buy a paper at lunchtime- ended up doing a 60 mile round trip!
Still the best way to blow 20 quid and Milton Keynes didn't appear as bad as some have told me it was.

Went equipt with the usual sams roof, fleece and benny hat, but my god were my hands cold, anyone recommend a decent pair of gloves that dont make you look like Victor Mildrew .

I had leather lined ones and me fingers were blue. Will try my gortex lined ones next. Worked in Canada at -15 a while ago. Drawback is changing tracks on the CD, fingers a bit big even for the remote.

Wonderful sunny day

Had a morning blast to Southampton and an afternoon blast up to Sherbourne. Stopped at Cerne Abass (sp) and took a couple of photos of the car & the Giant. Got back home about 4 ish and just about warmed up. :brrrr:

Looking forward to another sunny day tomorrow

Yes, it was great. I think the weather is going to be the same tomorrow. It was quite strange driving on the Bedford bypass and near Wyboston which is quite high and just seeing miles and miles of flood.

I thought the Chimp was black - but it could've been blue - my screen wash has packed up and things got a little smeared.

Cold hands - you need fur lined leather gloves. Ok, fur might not be very PC, but they use rabbit fur. If you get a pair that fits properly you will be able to change CD's still! Thats what I use when out in the TD - along with a mad balaclava. I just put the half-tonneau on and wrap up even in the rain sometimes as the visibility is so poor with the door tops on and roof up.

I noticed today that Shell Optimax is cheaper than BP Super unleaded - since the former is supposed to be a better fuel than the latter I was quite surprised!

Harry,

I found some fleece gloves in M+S a while back that are quite warm and don't look too knobby.

I had a roof off blast today - great way to finish off the Christmas / New Year break.

I reckon the buck-skin finished gloves give better grip on steering wheels than shiny black leather - although if you slightly mositen the black ones they seem to grip just quite well.

Are the fleece ones not really slippy?

Mine were were buck ones. But after an hour or so not up to it. So Gortex and liners I think. Fleece let in the cold air, they are liners/extra layer...I think.

Hi Bob, could you send me a couple of pics please, I'll add them to your section of the members page of the TVRCC Dorset web-site, which can of course be found at the following address:

I use windstopper fleece gloves that have rubberised knobbly bits all along the inside of the fingers and palms; seem to work quite well. Restricts the use of the CD player a little, but if I;m going fast enough to need the gloves I can't hear the stereo over the exhaust..

Got the gloves from an outdoor shop in the Peak District somewhere; they are not too difficult to find but I'd definately avoid the pure fleece ones as grip is too poor..
