Right, as the Chimaera gets used everyday it's getting a bit tiresome chipping the ice away from the inside of the windows every morning and not being able to see bugger all out of the rear screen till I get to the office
So, does anyone know of the availability of some kind of independant heater type thing I could go and put in the car before my breakfast and then 15 minutes later the inside of the beast would be all toasty
Idealy the little gadget will have it's own power supply as if it plugs in the cars battery the chances are I'll have a warm car that will not start
And I don't want to have the car sat on the drive with the engine running for 10 minutes for obvious reasons, as even if it was locked it'd soon wind up the neighbours
So does this little gadget exist or have I found a gap in the market.....copyright raceboy

Raceboy,

Can you not just use a mains-powered fan heater... That's what I used to do, it does the stuff in 5 mins or so...

I was thinking of finding a 12 volt hair dryer for my vixen . . . .but as the wiring is so crap it wont turn over in the freezing cold at the moment so Im using the old MK1 Cortina with a wonderfully hot heater until I sort it out ;-)

Unfortunatly No
It would involve a lot of cable and at least one open window in the house making breakfast cold
What I need is a rechargeable battery powered small fan heater, can't believe thats to much to ask for

Try somewhere like the innovations catalogue... I've definately seen a small "cermaic heater" - designed specifically for the car...

I'll have a dig around too...

Sounds ideal, but would probably be too much for the fag lighter socket in a Tiv. Might need some kind of feed straight off the battery to cope with 150W heater.
As an aside, has anyone ever found a heater to warm up the engine before starting in the winter. An old work colleague mentioned one, but we're no longer in touch.

Cheers,
Steve.

Ah... sorry about that old bean... I must have bought the last one! (ooops..!).

I'll have a nose about...

As for heater... I've been shoving a greenhouse heater under the car... doesn't use much power, but seems to take the edge off the temperature.

Have heard those heaters are good, but I don't know about the current being drawn through the wiring..

Only solution I've found to the rear screen is to take the lid off.. Not sure how long I'll be doing that
for; it is getting just a little chilly these days..

Anyone know about the solar powered battery booster? Do they work ok in the UK wintertime?

My gf used to work in the solar panel business. She says they don't need sunshine, just diffuse light.

Still, its only 6 hours light a day through winter so I dont think they'd be that efficient.

or if your minted you could keep the car in a centrally heated garage ;-)

but then, if your me you become inclined to fill it with 'projects' (or ferrous tat) and leave the car outside!

Any idea how much those posh bits of kit are chaps?
Just really curious don't really think I'm spending more than £20, it's not that much of a problem, it's just me getting old and lazy

Innovations dont intend stocking that heater again which is a bugger. Same thing was advertised in Mail on Sunday few weeks back at 30 quid!!!

Looks like i'll have to buy an overpriced one, unless anyone knows of a 10quid alternative
