Chatteris - "Gateway to the Fens"
Discussion
Blackm, I used to live in P'boro and regularly explored the roads around March, Chatteris, etc. Fantastic; not much other traffic, great vision so you can use all of the road and some great bends. Just don't get it wrong or your straight into a dyke! Still haven't driven B1050 Chatteris - Somersham road in the TVR, but its a great road.
The roads are great, although some are *very* bumpy in a TVR and will slow you down.
And watch the Benwick road along the Ramsey Forty-Foot... that's how deep the drain in question is supposed to be. They dredge the cars out now and again...
Chatteris? IMHO, it's all a bit nicer if you can get closer in to Cambridge or Ely. But that's just a personal opinion, so bound to cause offence somewhere. :ducksandruns:

I live in Warboys which is just down from Chatteris and the roads are a good laugh if you don't use them everyday, I've know there are a few Tiv's in the area plus Shorty lives down the road in St.Ives and I'm just about to go to TMS to work so if you need a chat let me know and i'll gladly oblige.
I'm in PBoro with a couple of others PHers. The roads are OK and there's little traffic to get in the way.
Chatteris is a bit east for my liking though ... mind you it's the Whittlesey Straw Bear Festival this weekend ... so what can I day

Peterborough area is where we looking for a house... any good estate agents that deal with country homes (we're tired of living in flats in city centres!). What is the TVRCC in the area?
Dickens Watts and Dade are good
www.dwdproperty.com
Quite upmarket country properties on their register.
Go to this site and check agents anywhere in the country - this is the stamford page ... Stamford is about ten minutes from PBoro. Very well-to-do area!

Have a look at "The Deepings" as well, 7 mile east of Stamford.
If you have to drive through Chatteris & some of the other fen towns, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE observe the following. 1) don't make eye contact with anyone 2) don't worry about the webbing between peoples fingers 3) yes, that is probably their sister. 4) The Singing Postman ("Have yew got a loight boy ?") is a local hero. 5) Bits of my legs still reside in Chatteris from playing in various football matches there 6) Peterborough is considered "The Big City" 7) Most of the local people think you fall off the edge of the world at Huntingdon........IMHO.
This should reduce my 14% 'respect' rating even futher.

Hi,
Plenty of country homes in the villages surrounding Peterborough. I'm sure you will find something that fits the bill. Lots of bumpy B roads, which need a lot of bravery to drive along at any great speed.
Not many TVR's in the area, your Tuscan would be a welcome sight amongst the oh so many Audi TT's round my way.

Your right about the road between Willingham and Earith, right next to the river but you wouldn't catch me doing 120 down there, far too risky, I bet you became airborne a couple of times![]()
Rich
It was on one of the less bendy bits
If you want proper airborne may I recommend the southernhalf of the Sawston bypass (between spicers and the McDonalds roundabout) at about 130... D.
"Hey bridesmaid, like the beard" originally came from the fens not Blackadder.Subsidance makes fen roads pretty TVR unfriendly IMHO ,still good fun ,but an extra helping of brave pills required
House prices are good there but there are a lot of "Did"camps around
,you don't have to go too far to see burnt out cars down side roads and in laybys
Wherever you end up,have fun

Fen people normally only marry one of their sisters, but in some cases they may also be married to their mother, who could also be their sister.
This goes some way to explaining the high foreheads, large feet and perplexed expressions.
