Just dropped off the Noble at Mole Valley Redhill and there was a fine collection of bashed, bumped and otherwise rather stacked TVR's down there.

Apparently it's been like "christmas" for crash repairs over the last few days. One unfortunat chap has only had a tuscan for about 6 months, wrote off the first, now he's done 29k of damage to a second

Glad my renewal on the Noble is a loooonnngggg time away!

When I picked up my Chim from MV Redhill nearly a year ago now, they had about four TVRs of various desciprions in states of disrepair after collisions. In each case however, the GRP looked like it absorbed the impact well though.

Bet the Tuscan owner wouldn't dare admit it it on here

Saw a totally wrecked Tuscan at Harrogate Horseless Carriages repairs garage a couple of weeks ago. It was about 6 weeks out of the factory.

Own up - who was it? (No serious injuries apparently as I enquired).

A friend of mine into Range Rovers tells me that the Range Rover magazine always has a load of TVR motors for sale. Is this where they come from?

Sad to say, at work (Insurance Brokers) we have had an horrific number of tuscans written off in the last 6-12 months.

Almost all of them are 'loss of control' claims with no other cars invloved.

I'd also like to know where the bashed and crashed TVR's go. Anybody got any ideas?

Does that push up TVR premiums on the whole or just the Tuscans, I'm due for renewal next month and a bit concerned to hear this .

Currently have the V8S with ClassicLine who can't remember the last time they had a major claim from Wedge/S's, hence good the deals.

At sunninghill do you offer the same sort of understanding 'premium' for the older 'safer' cars as I feel a change coming on as you do inclusive track day cover, not just for the TVRCC events. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Saw a badly stuffed R plate turquoise Griff last month at a bodyshop in East Sussex. Owner had put it in a ditch rather heavily - total loss.

I wondered how often this happens. How many have been lost over the last 10 years? Scary stuff.

I'm rather put off from taking the Griff out until it warms up a fair bit...

Theres a Cerb on Autotrader with what looks like not too substantial crash damage for £7800. Rebuild it and thats a seriously cheap supercar assuming that the damage is not too extensive.

Well call me Mr. Cowardly Custard, but as soon as the snow started falling the TVR went into the garage and the Corrado started getting more mileage than normal. And it will stay that way until the external thermometer readout on the Corrado's MFA says it's got quite a bit warmer.

(I should point out that the Chimaera's rear tyres are almost down to the tread wear indicators, making the back end a little frisky at the moment)

I changed my mind about going out in the Griff whilst there was snow about after I spun my Rover yesterday. Not taking any chances!

This is true, always ads in Landrover world for TVR 4 litre 4.5 and 5 litre engines for sale as replacement units for yoru standard range rover.

One huy a few months ago was running a tuned 4.6 with supercharger in his defender 90 apparently the article said that he had done a previous job on his westfield and thought it would be fun to do the same in his defender !

Nah, it's all about respect for the car and other people.

I drive my Griff every day to work. It is in some ways a medicine as I remind myself "This car is going to spin/drift if I hoon it" and drive VERY cautiously. If other road users (like the tit who drove 2 mm from my arse last night along the M4) took the same attitude we'd all be much better off.

Sorry, rant over.

yep its all about respecting the car. i always have it in the back of my mind that if I take the piss the car will bite back.

i wonder if the reason behind there being a lot of crashed tuscans is because it's styling and philosophy generally tends to attract a different type of owner... someone who perhaps doesnt appreciate that it's not just a poser's car but a serious enthusiast's sports car with no driver's aids at all.

There were a lot of crashed Griffs after it came out. Cheap(ish) performance car, but sold to people who had no idea how to handle 300 BHP (with the 500) at the rear.

I'm just amazed by the people in trucks like BMW X5's Cruisers, Bruisers, etc who believe that the car (or truck) will avoid an accident for them. Good driving is a far better substitute for complacency. And why don't the bloody mums car pool and take 4,328 kids to school in their chevrolet-land-roaming-whoom-i'll-just park-here. If it's so bloody big fill it with kids.

Amen
