Service Experience

Hi All,

My Griff needs a 24,000 service soon. Dealer prices down in the sarf are about £800, I rang the TVR factory and they quoted £560. Luckily I live (usually) close to Blackpool so that is now my first choice. The difference is apparently in labour costs.

I had the Griff serviced at 18,000 by the factory and they were excellent. Spotted a few things that made my belief in some of the dealers suspect. Won't name the dealer here of course but happy to discuss via profile. As an example "My Griff seems to run at 110C". Response, "Yeah, not unusual sir". TVRs view - "Total bollocks, it should not". (otter switch of course)

Any thoughts or good experiences on dealers for servicing?

Yes, I won't name the place near Reading, but they had my car for the day and were excellent!!

They went over it thoroughly and gave me a good idea of what to do now and what will need doing. They also explained things in simple terms, so

My last two services have been done at the factory service centre and they've been exemplary. Friendly, helpful, explanatory and while not the most affordable they're no the most expensive either. I can't recommend them enough.

Yep, I agree. The Griff was looked after by Heath and I only have praise for him and the service team. Kelly was a star and even rang warranty holdings to get the claims on certain parts.

So - why £800 for a sub standard service when £560 is the factory cost. I really can't believe that southern grease monkeys are worth that much more when they achieve much less.
