The BANANA is split

Today i had the unfortunate experience of meeting some Black ice at about 30mph in the Griffith.
I span a whole 360+ across a road and through a fence and dropping 10foot'ish into Field.
Fortunatly i am ok, and my passenger also had a lucky escape as a fence post went through his side window and through to the rear window. He was crouched down at the time and the post scratched his back as it went through.
The damage is - well the whole front end is mashed from the end up until the top of the lights (rad etc)
the passenger side need s a new door, front wing.
The whole of the back need s replacing due to cracks everywhere and the two rear light pods have blown out.
The Front window and rear are gone drivers door has only paint damage.
The engine started after pressing the cut-off button,so still might be mechanically sound as it wasnt a high speed impact.
BAsically i am right pi$$ed off that my Dream has been wrecked.
Its currently at a friends Accident repair shop who luckily(strangly) was behind me at the time as i was driving about 500mtrs from where i play football to the local PH.
I know its hard to say but a think it needs at least a whole new body so will this be a Write off.
A very Sad BB

What a nightmare! Sorry to hear your misfortune - was looking forward to meeting you on the run to the herts/beds meet tomorrow. As you say - good that you and the passenger are ok but gutting about the car. Hope the insurance coughs up swiftly to either repair it or give you the funds to look for a replacement. Best of luck.
BB, that's awful mate. I know this has been said before but as long as you are OK that's all that matters. Car's can be replaced, people can't...
There was me feeling mopy because my little flying Banana has gone today and this happens..
Keep your chin up and think of the fun you're going to have buying it's replacement...
All the best
Flash.

Simon really sorry to hear your news. This time of the year is a bitch for us rear wheel drive folk, especially with so little weight and so much torque.
rest assured, no matter how pissed off you are, you're here to tell the tale and cosmetic stuff on Griffs is really not that bad to fix up. Sounds like the hardware is ok and that being the case, a bit of hospital care and you'll be back on the road.
If you want to meet up for a beer and a commiseration session let us know.

Soz about the bad news BB and the Banana, the main thing is that nobody was hurt.
I've hit a few of these dodgy roads in the Omegod recently and had a little side ways action and courtesy of the TC come out OK, but every time I've thought 'I'm glad that wasn't in the Tiv' as I'm not so sure that I could had recovered it.

Blimey Banana - and there was me thinking that I would take mine for a spin tomorrow! Think that I might just have to re-think that idea after all. Sorry to hear about the car. However, £7K for the body - by what you say I dont think that it will need that. From a long and probably unhealthy conversation with the caps at TVRBodyShop.co.uk the great advantage of GRP is that you can simply cut out the crap and bond in the new stuff...
Its time consuming, but stuff the back in and they just cut it off and bond on a new one! Sounds bizzare and its fine really.... so shouldnt be looking too bad on the repair / insurance claim...
Cheers and good luck - keep us posted as to the outcome.

sorry to hear about your griff. hope you are back on the road again soon. i had a lucky escape today with some ice i hope the guy in the 4x4 we somehow missed was not as bad as my passenger who didn't talk all the way home. i am going to stay on main roads from now on until it warms up a bit
Sad times, BB.
Pleased to hear that you are intact. Lets hope the next Banana machine is even better!
If you aren't playing football tomorrow and fancy a trip out then give me a call / early e-mail / meet at MFI sa planned. I have an empty Cerb going to Harpenden. I don't know if that is what you need the day efter such an event or not?

, glad you and passenger are ok. Let hope it gets sorted asap. Mine took 3 months (granted TVR shutdown the factory for the summer half way)!
