Be fair. How can she answer that one on here?

He has some good idea's:

"As part of its ongoing commitment to its customers and enthusiasts, TVR has launched a mobile media service to provide mobile phone downloads and official news alerts."

Thanks. I am afraid I cannot/willnot comment about TVR as I am sue you will understand.

Plus I am always the last to find things out as I am more concerned about my own little TVR world

You can listen to it at www.rockfm.co.uk but basically all the workforce have reportedly received letters today and they were dated 13th April. It also reports that no one is available to comment from the factory as it is on annual shut down

Just popped up on Googe news: www.blackpoolonline.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=62&ArticleID=1451548

news said:
BLACKPOOL luxury car manufacturer TVR is set to axe jobs.

Stunned workers at the Bispham-based site today received letters informing them posts would be shed next week.

Exact numbers of how many workers will be affected by the shock move have yet to be revealed.

Management are due to meet with union representatives next Monday to talk about the cuts.
Andy Robertson, from the Transport and General (T&G) workers union, said: "The management have once again stabbed us in the back.

"As many workers are relaxing they go back to the factory on Monday knowing they will be out of a job. It's a disgrace."

But TVR bosses today told The Gazette the cuts will only be temporary due to the lack of orders on their books.

Last year the sports car maker - owned by Russian millionaire Nikolai Smolenski - laid off 90 workers for similar reasons.

Two thirds of those staff were eventually taken back on.

Having had more negotiations and consultations with the T&GWU over the years than I care to recall, that is about standard.

However, in defence, it is not the best way to communicate with a workforce. Send them a letter when the factory is shut down. Who are they supposed to consult/be counselled by.

The announcement for Reighton (sp) yesterday at least had the night shift coming in, to be told face to face, and then allowed home to give them time to adjust to the news and not have to work through it.

As has been mentioned on here historically, it is often the quality of the leadership that drives the results of a business, and this would seem to reaffirm some peoples concerns over the current quality of leadership at the factory.

Personally, it wouldn't do anything for my motivation or longer term commitment to a business when they came knocking at my door 6 months down the line to see if I would be available for work again.

When relocating an office many years ago I once made someone redundant by letter because she was on holiday then I was to be away and I just wanted to get on with the move. I felt so ashamed of myself afterwards that since then I have always made a point of telling people face-to-face that they are redundant or sacked. However bad hard it is it has to be done, after all you have a job and they no longer do. They should have been told individually by a team of senior managers before the shut-down. It's poor management. Rich...

If they have a lack of orders they should try sacking the sales manager(s) and not the workers !!!

I recently walked into a TVR dealership with £26K in my current account and I found little to tempt me other than impressive depreciation and (pointed out by my maintenance manager) a very cheap glove box lid.

My wife has found other ways of investing the cash.

As you say the do hold their value very well, my Griff 500 is still worth 50% of what I paid after 7 years! But you didn't look very hard did you if the only thing that made an impressioni was a glove box - didn;t drive one did you. I guess you let your wife make the decision.

Jacko Get a Grip!!!!

Perhaps you should have asked your good lady if you could have a go in one

If you had driven any of them you would have a different opinion, as Rich said, and an empty bank account!

But a huge Grin on your face
