I have had 5 tvrs, 2 chims and three tuscans, the chims were great, the tuscans are fantastic, compare a spitfire to a F15, and los angeles, when you own one then you can compare, i know that the early ones were bad, but tvr has got its act together and the new speed 6 is just fantastic.
Clarksons approval apparently - if the Top Gear I saw the other night on UK Gold is anything to go by.I can only answer as a Chim driver but Tuscan drivers are missing out on a classic design and the V8 noise. The Chim is a very pretty sports car.
As a Chim owner I feel I miss the stunning looks of the Tuscan (probably TVRs best design to date), the speed - the way the speed 6 pulls is fantastic, the seats - std Chim seats have no support at all, I love Tuscan seats and shall be putting a pair into my Chim later this year.
Yes the S6 has had a bad press but they are a bloody good engine, they just need caring for and fettling a lot more than the trusty old V8. Later Speed 6s have reportedly been more reliable, only time will tell, and there are a lot of indies out there (Austec for one) who are working on major reliability improvements for these engines.

I wonder how long it will be before confidence grows to the point where someone supercharges a Speed 6?

As I have done the same & gone from a 4.3 Chim to a Tuscan I can honestly say there is absolutely no comparison. The speed & the attention the Tuscan receives is nothing short of astonishing so.
a) Open mouths as you drive by, Car that doesn't leak, car that can be driven in the wet (& even in snow when caught out!), car that if treated properly & warmed up correctly before each time you floor it will give you more smiles than anything else on earth, car that has grown men staring & smiling & even more important women waving
b) Sound of V8 rumble (Although once you have carbon cans on Tuscan the pops / bangs & noise is fantastic) no substitute for sound of a V8 but very close, Getting slapped by missus for returning waves to women mentioned above.

Went from a Griff 5.0 to a Tuscan S (ok, with 12 weeks of horrible Porsche ownership in the middle), but essentially the Tuscan is a better ride, better handling, more linear engine delivery (not as much low down torque admittedly), better driver/passenger space and more power and generally just more modern.
You will miss the V8 woofle, but that can be cured by a sport exhaust and carbon cans on the Tuscan. The other thing I think I miss is the fact V8's can be repaired by practically anyone (competent).
Whether it's better or not is debatable!

I know the feeling !
After 5+ years with a Chimaera I upgraded to an '05 T350. Not a Tuscan, but similar under the skin. It is still early days, but some differences I have noticed:
the rumbly RV8 sounds great at idle (SP6 is quite quiet on standard cans)
over 4k rpm the SP6 sounds simply fantastic.
overall build quality seems better in the T350.
the seats are much better in the T350 (not true of the earlier cars though).
people take photos of the T350 everywhere we go; kids shout "Wow!".
I love it, and I wouldn't go back to an RV8 car.

was let down by the speed 6 sound at first, but it was cured with a set of carbon cans
My tuscan has been much more reliable than the chim ever was but it is newer, and the engine will proberly blow up now Ive said that.
It wont ever sound like th v8 but IMHO it is a much better car.

Yep - went from a griff 500 into a Tuscan. Handling so much better, more drivable - steering much more responsive and so much better made. My V8 needed two rebuilds in a year, Speed 6 none so far in the same time period!
An added bonus is that ladies in general have mixed opinions about the Griff/ Chim but they ALL adore the Tuscan!!

I have a friend who has a 5.0L Griff and I thought It was a great car ,Fantastic sound but deadly in the wet and it did have some issues with build quality he has owned it from new. I WANTED ONE BADLY.......................Until I drove A TUSCAN..
The cars looks exterior/interior are superior to the Griff In my opinion, It feels better put together is easier to drive day to day AND THAT ENGINE!! The SP6 is A wondefull engine and with Carbon Cans it sounds 95% as good as a V8.
The Tuscan has pride of place on my driveway!!
