So, with all this speculation around TVR at the moment & comments coming from ex/employees stating that there are a number of cars being developed for the show, what do we reckon they'll be ?

Strong rumours of a Cerb2, but will it be powered by a Speed6 ?

Have TVR got the superchargers ready ? If so, will we get the Sagaris everyone wants to see ?

Rumours of a Sagaris vert' ? Hope not myself.

Will be Typhon be rolled out again ?

What do you lot reckon ?

On another thread, I posted this..

Supercharged SP6 Sagaris S range topper..
Cerb II with LS6
S (mk 4?) with Duratec 3.0

However a PH'er doesn't think a lower entry point is doo-able financially...

I think they will have a new model - convertible with cheap reliable V8 power (350bhp) : priced very keenly at 38K.

Why has everyone got LS* engines on the brain? There's plenty of other good V8 customer engines out there.

Hello Iain

Suggestions with bhp and ££ ? (Just wondering).

PS : Alan - very logical prediction, the "speed eight" tuscan thread saw the reaction to TVR style and simple grunt.

For a start Ford, either straight fromt he factory or from someone like Sean Hyland www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/mustang-crate-engines.shtml or www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/frppcrate/M6007D347.shtml £3,794 for 415bhp out of the box.

Then theres the BMW six cylinder and V8's like Wiesmann use, there's several Jap engines that will fit the bill. If you read PPC there was an article earlier this year with various options to the American or Rover V8.

Not denying the LS* are good engines, but they're not the only ones!

I think that maybe you have misunderstood the other thread. Most people believe that a lower priced company saving model may be the best way forward but priced in the low 30s not the low 20s. Remember that in 1986(?) the S was first sold at £16,500 (although some lucky customers got them at the motorshow price of £12,500.) Doubling the price for 20 years later sounds about right.

Personally I think there are two cars that TVR should make next - an entry level 2 seater and a 2+2 Cerb replacement. The current range just looks too narrow for my liking.

However, what TVR will turn up with at the motorshow is anyone's guess - personally I'll wait and see.

That said, what odds would I get if I wanted to lay money on it being something with a twin hull and outboard motor?

They have an entry level car. Its called the Tamora.

Think TVR are wanting to get away from the 'cheaper' market & therefore expect they have no intention of a sub 40k car.

Cerb2 would be a big seller. £50k(ish), non Sp6 engine. 400bhp.

Yes - mine was 43K in 1989..

But to sell loads - you have must sell at a reasonable price :
I would say that's about 38K and with excellent resale prices.

TVR and Caterham were excellent at this a few year's back - making second mand examples back a a very good price because of higher demand than production.

Guess this could mean restricting production (All TVR;s) to about 300 per year.

I know TVR have always been all about raw power....no luxuries, keep it simple, make it fast, power to weight etc....

But I would LOVE to see a convertible with an automatic roof. A simple pressing of a button and voila....done.

I know they are heavy, but with all the other top names now having automatic hoods......well I just think it would give the car that extra bit of class.

It's probably my age.......

People always say that but it's not what they buy. TVR have always been about people who talk about the virtues of Lotus cars, adding lightness for power to wt etc. but then buy all the luxuries on offer:- comfortable seats, PAS, air con. Is your car a stripped out lightweight model or a luxury sports car? TVR have not and cannot sell to that market. Even now you mention additonal luxuries rather than power to weight. Have you seen how Lotus save weight for the Elise? Not carpets, even the rubberpiping for the engine cover is not continuous.

TVRs are light compared to most other cars but not compared to the ones that pursue bhp/tonne and they need all the luxuries to sell the cars.
