Not heard about the pub meet up, but happy to make a few suggestions as I'm local to Sheffield..

Heard a rumour today that there are new speed cameras on the A61 between the Hillfoot roundabout and the camera at the top of the hill, (which I've never seen work but I;ll bet its on Saturday..). Bit sneaky if so as that would make 2 sets within half a mile. As it is, the one at the top of the hill is just right to catch you unawares if you are leaving town and see an open road. Slows you down before the houses on the way back though..

I've been laid up with flu all week so not been out of the house, but happy to take a wander up the road tomorrow and report back if noone knows for sure..

I went past those speed cameras in question last Sunday. At that time the arms were on but no boxes were fitted and so no camera's. Hope some local takes a chainsaw to them if they put them up.
Is anyone meeting at a pub then in the area beforehand?

I'll take a look tomorrow and post in the evening to let folks know if they seem to be up and running or not.. Ideally do it Saturday morning, but thats probably too late to warn those coming from afar..

Not sure if I am coming out to play or not; been laid up with a flu bug all week and its not shifting.

Guess the centre of town would be best to meet, (West St ish?), but no free parking around there. I'll have a think if anyone is interested in meeting up beforehand..

Right, popped up the road half an hour ago and the 'new' speed cameras are not there.. They have put posts in, but nothing on top of them.. Did see some fresh flowers on a lamp post in the 30 zone at the top of the hill as you leave town, so I'll keep the revs down there..

Hear that people are gathering in the bar about 7ish, but I for one, would be happy to meet up in Sheffield beforehand.. Since we are all driving, we could do a posh coffee somewhere. Couple of places on Eccelsall Road spring to mind..

No worries if no one is interested; will give me longer to work out how to tie my bow tie..

John, Simon,

Rudegirl and myself will be driving up from sunny Northants about 14:00'ish and so will be in Shefield around 16:00'ish.

I'll drop you an email with my mobile number. I'd be up for a quick coffee / refreshment before we head to the hotel to change.

RG, are you up for this?

Steve

Edited to say that Dennis, Eddie and Simon from the Northants club will be up in Shefield for a spot of shopping prior to getting to Tankersley. I'll try and give them a bell to see if they'd be interested

I live in Sheff but i don't mind driving to Chesterfield to meet up. Just waiting for a reply from Joolz, Rich or Alistair. I know they want to drive through Sheffield down Ecclesall Rd. Coffee sounds good though. Chimaera S3TAY

Joolz went home early tonight (about 10.00!) so won't have logged on to see this. From what he said tonight he might be working right up to the knuckle - he's going to ring me tomorrow afternoon and let me know if he's coming with us or going via Joolzmobile II. I suppose the bottom line is I don't mind what I do so long as it fits with everyone else and I still have time to do girly poncey stuff with my hair before the serious drinking starts.

You obviously don't have the right contacts Steve, we only bought £2 worth!

What a quality night though - huge vote of thanks to Ian and the committee for all the work organising it.
