This weeks Autocar has a front page story about TVRs plans. I thought the article was complete pie in the sky - a car maker selling only a handful of cars a week, which has just completely destroyed its already shaky reputation with some disasterous PR, is going to relocate, introduce 3 new models, and eventually sell 5000 cars a year. All this without the backing of a major manufacturer, no site chosen for the factory and hence no full workforce in place, and no deal for engine supply. If it wasn't so sad it would be hilarious.

That's not a plan, that's a wish list. How much does it cost to receive that rubbish?
Better hurry and buy a current model while stocks last, before there will be a logical V8 line-up with Johnny Foreigner beating down the door to place orders.

Yoi do have a point...
But, imho credible pr, not just a wish/spin list without any evidence that they actually have credible plans, or that ANY work towards achieving this has been carried out

"Relocation" fell out of a meeting with the TGWU ... increased and improved production needs increased demand ... global markets have been touted for the last two years ... the 'ultimate line-up' came out of TVR being "doorstepped" by Autocar (and appears to be contrary to the 'big surprises' promised for the Motor Show in 2 months time).
To call that lot a "5 year plan" and charge people to receive it as news on their cellphones is hardly PR is it? What does this nonsense do for sales now? If 'increased and improved' production is coming, should one wait till then to buy? If new V8 models are coming, should one wait for them?
The PR we need to hear/read needs to be directed at increasing the appeal of current models, currently in showrooms - not encouraging us to look beyond them. This bulletin disregards current product (still very fresh and very rare on the roads) as yesterday's news.
YP: you and I know the Sagaris and T2 Vert are very good cars because we have experience of them. I'd like to see PR that makes more people want to buy them.

Personally, my 5 year plan is to marry Alicia Silverstone, buy a Koenigsegg CXR, redevelop the island of St. Lucia and invade Cuba. And I'll have a bottle of Skullsplitter please!

As the work force have no idea what is going on,,, yet the factory is set to close in six moths..
To move a factory/car production to a new site, is a massive job.
AND or get a new work force while you are about it.
AND on past evidnece (last 2 years) what have they ACtually achieved, I really don't believe a word of it...
Of course TIME will tell, AND I would love to be proved wrong.... But my wishful thinking doesn't carry on to make a business decision/ or parting with my cash on what I'd like to happen.
BUT this bit of PR, has imho just 'killed' the current model range... Why buy one when a new exciting one is just to be seen at the motorshow, which (if true) will be more than likely at least a year away from production.

No one knows what Nick and Co. are planning until they tell us-and when they do of course its derided based on what? Superior information? Access to new facts? Insights gained from conversations-or is it more feeble and overtly cynical posturing.
So far they promised improved quality-that was delivered in the main
They promised a 3 year warranty-I've got one of those.
They promised a revised and improved Tuscan and a convertible -might be halucinating but I think I may have seen one or two of them about.
They have been talking about a new factory long before this month,naturally this was derided on announcement.
No one knows what access the Russian owner has to funds-only speculation on his personal wealth-so how is it possible to build a case around he can't do it when no one actually knows what his resources are?
The only facts are that TVR have made some tough calls to safegaurd the companies existence,have published their plans -including a V8 and Cerbie for the dissaisfied so get your wallets ready Cerbie forum ( I might be tempted myself )
Thats all we know- all speculation is worthless.
