Keyfob batteries
Discussion
Happy New Year chaps - I've been avoiding PH this year to try and focus my brain on earning some money... however, I have a question.
Last weekend the Meta alarm on my 97 Griff refused to lock the car. It was fine the weekend before, so I presume the batteries have died. It takes two very thin batteries, about 1.5mm thick, and I can't find them in normal outlets. Any ideas, and can they be replaced by one thicker one or will that mess up the voltage?

The battery in my Meta fob are CR1220 which I buy fom CPC at 77p each Part no: BT02299 http://custom1.farnell.com/cpc/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=Battery+Blitz+exp+31st+Jan&category%5Fname=&product%5Fid=BT0229913
Only trouble there's a postage charge on small orders but I'm sure it still comes out less than Dixons or a jewller

Don't know if TVRs have the same problem, but when this happened to me with a Saab I had to get the blipper thing reprogrammed by an alarm specialist. Bloody expensive if I remember, but actually all they did was locate the alarm unit, hit a button on it, (with the key in it to deactivet the alarm), then the blipper was reprogrammed.
Can't be more specific I'm afraid.. Worth playing around to see if its something like this otherwise it could be an expensive trip to an alarm specialist..

'Isnt they something in the owners manual/Bible about how to reprogramme them.'
Dunno - the only Bible I can find is for Chimaeras... (Ones made out of pixels. Or is it Lego?)
'i have seen something somewhere about them going out of sync and the fob needs to re-sync due to a different code being used every time you use it.'
How does one re-sync it? Point it north and hit it with a hammer? Oh no, that's demagnetising, sorry. It's late...

If you change the batteries with a Meta fob, the chances are that the alarm will need resynching. May not but may do. If the car battery has gone flat again you may need to resynch them. This is a an Meta alarm specialist/dealer job. It is not covered in the book for obvious security reasons.

I had the same problem in the Griff after leaving the lights on - and phoned the dealer.
(but since there seem to be as many alarm system variants as paint schemes, and I was being guided by Fernies finest over a mobile, you would probably be best advised to phone your dealer
) (Edited since having reviewed the post and shpub's previous one, it struck me that maybe I was giving away the topic 'not covered for obvious security reasons')
