Discount of %10

When a dealer says they will give you %10 discount off a service when you show them your TVRCC membership card, what do you do,
1. Do you show them your card before you have the work done, Only for them to add %10 on to then take it off latter to make out they have deducted you %10,
or
2. Show them after they have given you a price so tyey can then say that you should have shown them your card before they had costed everything up.

I would get a quote first - then tell them you are a member before the work. If they recommend that any extra work needs doing after the original quote, ask them to get the car on the ramps and go through it with you. Any garage worth their money won't mind going through the car with you and you will get a good inkling as to whether they are trying to do you over. It also means that if you needed to ask advise or get a 2nd opinion you will have a better understanding.
