Just noticed that the ratings thingy has gone from my profile - just as i'd got up to 5 votes as well !! Ted you decided to give this the axe?

Yep. Seemed to be counterproductive and created a hierarchy which I've always strived to avoid. Good to experiment occasionally though.

Fair enough. I have just read a number of threads on the topic. Thinking about it most people seem right when they say that the message forums are of great use; whereas a chat room would be of no great benefit to anyone really (and would require a lot of overseing). No point adding extra functonality just for the sake of it.

If anyone wants to indulge in realtime chat, a lot of people seem to use MSN Messenger. And IIRC, Gaffer set up a Yahoo group for PHers as well.

i use msn and its really good you only talk to people on your email list so you dont chat to anyone dodgy
