EVO interview with Smolenski!
Discussion
As usual with EVO, it seems to be on the shelves before it on the doormat of their subscribers!
It really drives me mad that EVO's publishers/distribution house can't get this right. Subscribers should receive their mags about 4 or 5 days BEFORE they hit the stores. Would have been nice to have ripped open my copy of EVO and discovered a good article on TVR in there, instead NO I read about it on Pistonheads first!

Same here!
With respect to the issue (and not the ongoing subscription saga):
Talk is cheap when you are a multi-billionaire with no other business interests. If he says it will stay in england and it doesn't, then what? Nothing. Its not like he will lose financial backers or anything because I doubt his dad will care. I hope it stays in the good ol U of K as much as the next guy but I'll take a "wait and see" approach.

Heard today that the promised two show cars for the motorshow have been axed in favour of a fixed glass rear screen update for the Tuscan. What this kid says and what he does tends to be on different poles. I also heard today that production is VERY likely to move to Poland. By the way, if you choose to doubt this then that’s fine but please don’t waste space with the usual growns that seem to follow my posts, cos that is repetition.

Talk is cheap even if you're skint.......
i know people have said that its just talk etc, but it was very positive and some of the quotes will be hard to turn on.
"If TVR's weren't built over here, how could they then be british cars? Besides there's nothing wrong with british labour costs, they're fine when you're not mass producing cars."
"Anti-lock brakes and traction control will soon appear on TVR's and in collaboration with an outside specialist possibly ricardo, TVR is developing its own semi sequential gearbox. 'how many small sports car makers can boast their own engine and gearbox?' asks smolenski in a rare break from his innate modesty"
there are lots of other things in the interview including a return to motorsport for TVR, but i dont want to copy and paste it all.

We'll never know till it happens, the rumours abound. I've even heard that a V8 option will make a comeback, in the form of a bought in unit from Volvo!! brakes etc will be outsourced and the motorshow will feature a new car based on a widebodied T350 or something

I'm not aware of any *MODERNISED* speed 12 engine in the works. All they did was work on the one which went back into the private customers road-car with revised heads and internal work.
Either way, if TVR stays alive then good, if they stay in the UK then excellent. If they go to Poland, imagine the sending your engine back in a crate when the dealer smiles and says 'its gotta come out and go home'.... although thats a less of an issue now with all the indie engine support flying around. But still, parts is a bitch as it is when they're based up in Blackpool, imagine the nightmare if they wander off over the waters into deep eastern europe/russia....
